What would you recommend and why?
I'm taking my barn boss's rig to a show, she wants me to have AAA or something.
Thanks!

US Rider! They for sure take care of trucks & trailers - don't think you can count on AAA (even RV) to deal with that.

Do a search for US Rider.
There have been tons of threads, but I feel safe saying that the general consensus is that A LOT of the BB members have and use US Rider and we're almost all very happy with them

Thanks!
I am actually looking as the USRider website right now.
My barn boss has always used AAA and had really really good results, so thats what she suggested.

AAA will tow your truck and trailer with horse inside... unfortunately I've had experience with this. But they were very good.

Also some auto insurance companies who insure trailer, RVs, travel trailers have this coverage. I know Progressive does.

I used US Rider for the first time when I had a trailer tire blowout. Help was there in about 40 minutes and after we got going again, US Rider called to make sure we were ok.

I've heard this varies alot with location--sometimes AAA is great, sometimes they won't even return your call if you tell them you have a horse trailer. USrider is intended for the horse trailer situation, though they deal with every-day commuter car issues for members just as well.

US Rider!!!!!
Had AAA RV-plus, just flushed that money down the tubes! They wouldn't:
-change a flat on a dually
-change a flat on a horse trailer
-bring diesel (in FL panhandle where its like 100 miles between exits)
-provide ANY assistance with trailer
-get a tow for truck or trailer when truck tire blew and destroyed front end of truck
-etc
- plus I have sat on the side of I-75 North of Gainesville for 3 hours waiting for them to come change the flat on rear driver side my NON-dually truck with 4H GN with 3 horses on board
Have had US Rider DO the following:
- change dually tire
- change MULTIPLE trailer tires both with horses on board and without horses on board
- unlock my keys out of my Tahoe at the tack shop
- bring gas :D
- help find a barn and a truck/trailer to get horses to said barn when truck died on side of highway
- call vet local to the area to check on horses after said truck died on highway (its was 100+ degrees out, and I have a mare that will NOT drink on or near a trailer )
-never use the really creepy towtruck drivers that you feel uncomfortable with alone at night on the side of the highway
- I have never waited more than 1 hour for ANYTHING!!!
Plus US Rider ALWAYS calls you 15 or 20 minutes after you get back rolling to make sure you are ok :D
I have been a member of US Rider since 2003 and AAA, RV Plus or not, can kiss my butt.

US Rider. Do not wait til the last minute: You can't get instaneously covered, as someone else here at COTH discovered to her shock and awe ;) I believe it takes about a week to receive your 'package' with your ID number, etc.
I've used them for a flat tire in an airport parking deck at midnight. Courteous, quick, called multiple times to ensure the guy was there, that I was on my way...AND got a letter/survey in the mail asking about the incident. EXCELLENT service!!!
Plus it travels with you: I can be in someone else's rig: I'm the one covered :) so I can call them.

I just used USRider for the first time this week.
The service was excellent, they called me back a couple of times to make sure things were under control, and the first question the person asked when I called was: Do you have horses on the trailer?
Two thumbs up.

USRider.
AAA told me they would NOT tow with the horse inside. They did make me pay extra ($50 about 12 years ago) to replace a blown tire on my trailer (with horse still inside since the area we were in was not safe for unloading).

You gotta love a company whose reps answer the 'emergency' line with, "Are you and your horse in a safe location?" Even though I've never had to use them when I was hauling, I just love that....
