This weekend it has been raining TORRENTIALLY, and of course it's the big Gold EC show. The rings are pure slop--- its like riding through mushroom soup  Luckily the base is so good it's not slippery, but it is gooshy!! The thing I notice most is that my horse doesn't want to really gallop because he doesn't like splashing up mud against his belly, so I need to work harder to get the pace (Evidenced by an add up the outside line yesterday afternoon :() But my horse has been stellar!!

Some pictures haha

Whats the worst weather you've shown in? At what point do you just say no??

The past two years, we've had abysmal weather at a local circuit show our barn hosts each year.

This year, my mare refused to even canter in the standing water we had. Our ring doesnt have *bad* footing when it is wet, but no way was Her Highness getting splashed by her own cantering.

Last year, she dumped me in similar mud. Here's a photo of hte aftermath. Those were brand new breeches, too. I took the tag off that morning.

When my now 12 yr old was 4, we decided to do leadline at Devon. We were so excited , it started out cloudy in the AM and by the time we got to Devon it was pouring!! And I mean just DOWN POURING, I don't' think I get that wet in the shower! DD was covered in trash bags, ponchos, and an umbrella ( good pony) The Dixon Oval was SLOP, and it never let up! Thankfully we were just so happy to be there that it did not matter. We had fun and DD has a great memory. Of course the pics are all a bit blurry , due to rain drops on the camera lens.
