How do hammerhead spurs work differently from prince of wales spurs?

It changes the way the pressure is distributed. The hammerhead spreads the pressure our, but still has edges that would give some "hard pressure". While the POW spurs are more "pokey" and is a more focused pressure. Spurs with a rounded end are softer.

My horse absolutely hates POW spurs. I usually use rounded end spurs with him, and one day I forgot them. Lets just say I will never forget them again! haha.

I'm thinkiong about changing to the rubber ball end spurs. I have some tiny POW spurs and my mare resents having a spur stuck in her, but GO is not her favorite speed.

I was using some tiny POW spurs on my young mare, until she started telling me she was resentful of them. I got the short neck black rubber roller spurs and she loves them. If you've got a sensitive mare - definitely give those a try :)
