I don't really notice a difference other than the price.

The JR8 does not have the European testing that the rest of the Charles Owens do. It also has a nylon harness instead of the microsuede one.

The JR 8 runs smaller and I believe it doesn't go to as large a size as the GR8. Also, the GR 8 has a suede harness and the JR 8 has a nylon one. I tried on both and found the JR 8 to be much shallower than the GR8. In fairness, I have a pretty large head (7.25). I went with the GR8 because the JR 8 just didn't fit my head.

I have the JR8!
The inside is a bit different (a different "texture" I guess - not very noticable), they run smaller & the the straps are nylon instead of microsuede. Also, the straps criss-cross in back (which can make it a little difficult for a hairnet, but not bad). I like my JR8. It's comfy, lightweight and a LOT cheaper then the GR8.

I have a JR8 and I really like it for the price. Nylon vs. suede doesn't bother me.

I think the GR8 looks a lot better personally, but if you're not bothered saving money is always good.

As others have said, the harness is different. I also found the JR8 fit a bit differently -- like someone said, it is shallower, so I never felt like it went down around my head enough, if that makes sense.

I have both - the Jr8 for schooling and the Gr8 for showing. The only difference I can tell is the harnesses. They fit me almost exactly the same.

I have the JR8 and I actually went down a size. My JR8 is a 6 7/8 and other helmets have always been 7. In my case, it definitely didn't run smaller! I'm glad I tried it on before just ordering online, though or I would have gotten a 7 that was too big!

I have both, in the same size. I use the GR8 for showing and the JR8 at home. To me they feel identical, except for the different harness which others have mentioned. I got the JR8 for schooling because I cannot find another brand that fits my head the way the GR8 does, and did not want to spend the extra $ for the GR8 for schooling. I need a shallower fit in a helmet and both of these fit me great.

Yup - that is why there is a price difference. I was told that they designed the JR8 to meet the European standards but did not go through w/ the testing requirements and hence the cheaper price. So that along w/ the different harness account for the lower price. :)
