View Full Version : Professionals doing ponies in the baby greens?

For whatever reason, I have never crossed this bridge before. However, I have a green pony that needs to get to some shows but is still green enough that I don't feel comfortable putting the kids on it. Would it be appropriate for me to do a large pony in the baby greens at the rated shows?

I think it's fine.

A friend of mine did her large green pony in a few unrecognized classes at a major A show last month, and got very good ribbons among all the horses. After he had gone around the ring a few times, she found a kid to show him in the children's pony division at the next show.

Long as you feet don't make trenches dragging in the ground and the class is open to ALL Baby greens, horses or Ponies.

This stuff is all on the Baby Greenies anyway, not the rider and that's what it's for, mileage.

Now...if it is Baby Green Riders? Stay the heck out.

Thats what I was thinking. Hoping to have a kid on him in a few months but would feel better about it if I got him out a few times first.

Just don't forget that, if an adult amateur or pro shows the pony in any class - Baby Green or anything - that pony may not be shown by a junior in any rated division or pony jumpers at the same show. It may be shown by a child in any unrated class or division in the same show, and any rated division in the following show as long as the adult doesn't show it.

It's a USEF rule.
