Hi all.. I was just starting a book on the Revolution and it mentioned Hanoverian Cremes pulling royal coaches..as well as George Washington's.... Does anyone know about these horses? I googled it but one site said they were extinct, another said in Europe certain collectors bought them.. are they cremellos or was there a certain line for these horses-- just curious and playing history buff. I should add the book said they had "fish eyes".. leaves a lot to the imagination.

In fact what is now called the Hanoverian Creams where in reality called the "Herrenhaeuser Weissisabellen". Means the Cremellos of the Stud Farm Herrenhausen close to Hannover where they bred the blue eyed creams for the King's carrosses. Due to heavy inbreading they got weak and then they did not like them any longer so they were extinct, but some have made it to East Germany and there is a small line still alive around here. A client of mine has three of that line and the stallion California Chablis of Fieldstone Farm in CA has the dam of this line. They have mostly the Hanoverian D Linie. Actually there is a pregnant Palomino mare and a smoky black filly for sale at a farm close to me that comes from this line.

Are those the same horses in the "Royal Cream Horses and Ponies" in the Favorite Horse Stories collection published by Page and Cooper and illustrated by Paul Brown?

What about your stallion Marscapone ( and his son.. both are so beautiful) , is this considered the type? Do they have any crosses? I'd love to see what they looked like...Ive never really been into 'color' before, but these horses are so neat.

Hehe actually there is a very nice desert that is realted to the kings of hannover the welfen (guelph in english). It is a whitish cream with a nice yellowish sauce. It is called Welfenspeise.
