Im trying to go to the AECs for preliminary. The AEC qualified rider/horse list has both me and my horse qualified for prelim horse. But after reading all the qualifications stuff, I dont think we can technically enter PH because she is not in her 1st or 2nd year of competing. I would be most qualified for the open or JYOP division, but according to that, we are not qualified because I have only run 2 prelims this year and neither of them were in the top 3? Im really confused. Am I even qualified?

They changed the qualifications around this year, and I find it confusing as well. You may just want to e-mail someone to clarify.

PH doesnt have anything to do with number of years competing (kind of takes the place of open) They only have Horse, Amat, and YR divisions at Prelim

Ohhhhh OK. Thanks for that link!

Is there anyway to combine levels for the qualifications? Like you know how if you are trying to qualify for a CCI*, you need 4 runs at prelim OR intermediate? If I have say...2 clean runs at prelim and 1 clean run at Intermediate, can I enter the JYOP division and cover the '3 clean XC runs' qualification? Im nervous about competitng in the open division!!!

The way that I read it to enter the JR or amat divisions is wereyou need the placings at events 1st or 2nd, 2 - 3rd's The horse division you just need to have done the two events clean XC

Quin is qualified at Novice...however, I took the other horse Prelim in August of 2008. What Novice division is Quin eligible for? I am an amateur.

I can't figure it out because of the two levels higher issue with the other horse.

Thank you DC--I looked up the horse's yesterday and I see its spelled out in the Rider area. Thank you so much. FYI the Training horse is also qualified because he was 3rd but the two riders above me were pro's. Good to see that rule at work.

The AEC list hasn't yet been updated to include the amateur points exclusion (at least mine hasn't).

ok, that's bizarre. In order to be a qualified rider, your qualifying runs have to be on a registered horse. It doesn't matter about the registered rider. I wonder why this has to be so complicated that nobody can make any sense of it ?

Im nervous about competitng in the open division!!!

The jumps are the same size in "Open" as they are in every other division at your level. :)

So because of the new Amateur points adjustements, my daughter who has decided that she prefers tennis to horses is qualified for BN with my horse who has retired from eventing to hunt.

Oh well.
