Here's a new excuse to use with your trainer:

"A Pickens County woman was ticketed over the weekend for riding a stolen horse down Main Street in Six Mile -- but police said the woman blamed the horse for the ticket.

Tracy Nadine Ellenburg, 40, was given a ticket for disorderly conduct after a pedestrian flagged down an officer on Saturday and told them Ellenburg was riding down the center yellow line and was barely able to stay on the horse.

The sheriff's report said an officer found a large tan horse tied to a bench at a convenience store and found Ellenburg trying to use a phone inside.

The officer said Ellenburg's speech was slurred, she had an aroma of alcohol and was unsteady on her feet.

She told the officer she was riding the horse to her boyfriend's house.

Ellenburg stated that "she wasn't drunk, the horse was," the officer said. She then admitted she had consumed a six-pack of beer before leaving the house on horseback.

The horse's owner said the animal was taken without his consent, but he didn't press charges."

LOL!

I asked my vet once if it was ok if I mixed beer in my horses feed to get him to eat his allergy medicine. I was concerned about mixing the 2. My vet said deadpan "as long as he won't be driving" then cracked an evil smile.

Beer is good for horses, just moderation please. My WB drinks beer. Of course he's also been given mulled wine without my permission.
One beer is not going to hurt a horse. However, the "couple of beers" that the drunk drivers always say they've had (couple of 6 packs is more like it.) can cause injuries.

I just moved from Pickens County about a month ago.

It may not have been my favorite place in the world to live, but at least it was entertaining.

I at least give her credit for getting in the saddle instead of behind the wheel. That horse is probably a life saver!

Over the years I've seen many a rider that has had a couple too many. First was when I was a junior at some open horse shows. At the end of some of the shows they had games, like pole bending and barrel racing. The 'cowboys', and I use that term VERY loosely, spent the day drinking plenty of beer so by the time of the class, they were far from sober. They would get SO mad when a teenager(me) went into the ring on a thoroughbred in english tack and beat the pants off them! :D :D :D

Last time I saw it was yrs ago at a dressage show. One of the trainers (an R judge I believe) had a student that was so nervous that they kept plying her with beer to relax and Coke to keep her awake and a port-a-john always open! :D :D I saw the judge several yrs later and asked about that student. She told me they finally got her down to a couple tablespoons of Bailey's. :D :D

OMG - I used to live in Six Mile, too! What're the odds of at least four people knowing where the hell it is? Maybe we should start a clique - "I'm a Six Mile survivor" or something.

And POM drinks and Coke and Orange juice and Gatorade and just about anything else. And it is good for them. Just don't let them get drunk.

Isn't Six mile up towards NC? It's not in the low country.

I am pretty close to Six Mile (about 20 miles away). This does not surprise me in the least. Had a guy around here a few years back that got a DUI and lost his license so he would tool around town on his mower.
