Nope. That's 2 years in a row. They are talking about holding an event in October, perhaps your entry will be honored then?? Not sure. They will refund your USEF fees and I think stabling since it's onsite??

It has not been cancelled, it has been postponed.
If you entered and they can find a new date, (which may or may not be up to them) I'm sure they will honor your entry.
Yes, this has happened twice, and actually in 06 they couldn't run XC because of rains that flooded the course. I lost my entry last year.
This has been a terrible year for mowing and making hay. My town has gotten SIX inches of rain in July alone (normal is about 2). No one can make hay, people who just mow the fields can barely brush-hog.
The Snowfields XC is run on beautiful hayfields - but as with much of northern New England, three dry sunny hot days in row (where the weather forcast predicted such) have been few and far between.
I am terribly worried about the hay crops as much as I am about events having to cancel or postpone.
Snowfields is a lovely event when the weather gods do not conspire against it and I do hope they keep trying.

It's not canceled, it's post-poned. They're hoping to move it to Columbus Day weekend but they need to pass it with USEA first. Usually they try to hold a 2-phase or schooling of some sort and give a partial refund if they can't hold the event.
Big bummer though :( was gonna be me and my pony's second event! Hopefully the new date gets passed.

Hey Kids, no griping. They are doing the best they can. It has done NOTHING but rain this spring and summer in Maine. This notice was posted on the Area 1 web site today. THANK YOU, Snowfields! Or should we call you Rainfields...

Second Notice Regarding Postponement of Snowfields Horse Trials.
The new date for Snowfields Horse Trials will be October 10 + 11, 2009 and will be USEA affiliated and will be listed in the Fall Omnibus.
Everyone who has entered to date is “grandfathered” in to the event and will not need to send a new entry. However, we would like to hear from you in writing to confirm that you plan to compete.
For those of you who are unable to attend the rescheduled event, we will be sending you a refund of your fees, minus $25; we will need to hear from you in writing as well that you are not planning to attend.
Hopefully, by the end of the week, we will get letters in the mail to everyone registered for the event, reviewing the details. This will also include a letter to return to the event secretary indicating whether you plan to attend or withdraw at this time. We need written confirmation of your intentions before August 20th, 2009. If you don’t want to wait for this letter and want to withdraw, you can send a letter to the event secretary stating your plans and request your refund. We prefer that you don’t email this request.
We will be setting a new opening date and closing date. In order to anticipate how many new entries we can take, it is imperative that we know how many people will withdraw. If we have not heard from you by August 20th, we will assume you will be attending the October horse trials.
I have reviewed these items with Sharon Gallagher of USEA and she has approved this.
Having to cancel the August horse trials was very difficult; much work and expense has already been put into making it happen, but weather is what it is and the course is not safe to compete on. We are looking for clearing skies, hayed fields, no humidity and no bugs for the October horse trials. Hope you are able to join us.

Well done snowfields!!! I'm delighted to hear that they will get to run their event later in the year. It's an outstanding event and hopefully the fall event will go off with out a hitch!!

Agreed! Wonderful of the organizer and all of the volunteers to make this effort.
Now, if we could just get a NORMAL amount of rain, and the hay could come in...

I hate to say this, but I was a little excited that they postponed. I had to withdraw before closing last year, and this year I got a late start and wasn't going to be ready. I should be ready by October though.
