Of course we forgot the camera.
But I'm just so happy I could dance! This filly came to our barn in sad shape; skinny, dull, wormy etc. (Not directly from the track, had a winter in between.) She was raced as a two year old and never finished-- not the fastest thing on four legs! The past 10 months has been spent getting her weight back up, letting her relax, and getting snuggles and love, as well as learning barn manners as opposed to track manners.
Today I got up for the first time after a brief lunge session. She was a complete saint. Coach just lead us around, walk and a little trot-- she didn't put a foot wrong. Had a few moments where she got excited at another horse whinnying from the barn and she just had to answer, but always brought her attention back to me, never did more than get a little "up."
Out again tomorrow! Hopefully I can wipe the grin off my face by then or I'll be catching bugs in my teeth. :)
