I just had both done today. My Obgyn said not to ride for ten days. I feel fine and would like to cut the time in half. Has anyone had this done and ridden?

Yes. And I didn't wait 10 days. Heck, 30 minutes afterwards, I was out trimming horses. I'm not a doctor and I certainly won't advise you to go against your doctor's recommendation. But my doctor told me that I could return to normal activities at my discretion as long as I wasn't having significant pain.
Only thing I remember was cramping. I took ibuprofen and I was fine.

I had both done last summer, and I rode about 5 days after. I told my doctor that if I felt well enough. that was what I planned to do. And I was fine.
I am not a doctor, and you should of course consult your doc re: your plans. But 10 days? I found that unnecessarily long for such an uninvasive procedure. My opinion only, of course.

If your doctor is saying 10 days, there may be a specific reason. I think it would be prudent to follow up with him/her to see if this is the case.

had both done on a monday and was showing by wed/thursday. It just depends on how you react to it... my roommate in college had it done and couldn't move for 3 days. I had cramping, but other than that I was fine.
I'd give your doc a call and tell her that you feel fine (if you do) and if it's ok to start riding sooner.

Had two in 2008, rode about a week after both. The second was tougher as I had an endoscopy at the same time that had some complications... rode anyway but probably shouldn't have!!
Don't push yourself.... take the time you need to recoup. The horses will still be there! ;)
Good luck!

I think I gave it two or three days. But I had no pain or anything so I felt like it was ok.

Really? I rode not 4 hours following colposcopy/biopsy. Both times.
As someone said, perhaps yours is a special case. Your doctor is the only one who can give you a reason for the timeline.

I would ask your MD - it could be yours is a special case, could be that your MD doesn't have a clue about riding.
The bigger issue for me would be recovery from the anesthetic/sedative!

I think depending on the type of biopsy, the answer may differ. If it was just a simple endometrial biopsy, I can't imagine why 10 days would be necessary! If it were more extensive, or one of those cone procedures (can't think of the proper name?) then I would think differently. Personally, I'd say unless your other activities are restricted, I'd ride when you feel up to it.

thank you everyone! I think my case is pretty normal and insignificant. I only had one biopsy; it was really fast without any drugs. She said I could exercise and ride the riding lawn mower to mow the pastures. She said that the biopsy was a wound inside, and that if it didn't heal, I could hemorrhage or bleed. She thought horseback riding would cause the scab to come off. I feel fine, no cramping at all. I think she was being overly cautious. I think I'll get back on Saturday. I feel so much better knowing that my fellow Cothers have been where I am and went on just fine :):D

You know, staying off of your horse for 10 days isn't the end of the world. If you don't listen to your doctor's orders, something might happen, and you could find yourself off of the horse for far longer than that.
I know that we horsepeople tend to want to push things, and get back to what we love to do, but, they have that education for a reason, and that reason is to give us the best care that they can.
Your Obgyn may be being overly cautious, but, really, what is the harm in following directions?

I have had several and I was never told to not ride for any amount of time afterward. Though I do agree with the others, go with what your doctor says about you.
Recovering from the anesthetic/sedative? They gave you something? Wow, my doctor really cheated me.

I've had a one and then some other biopsies down there, and only the first was my activity restricted by the doctor.
Sorry you had to go through this!

alright LAY-DEE'S...I am a board certified OB/GYN. I am an amateur dressage rider with a bronze and silver medal. I work full time and ride 2 horses every day that I am not on call AND.....I have had cervical dz a colposcopy with biopsy and a LEEP. So I am totally qualified to answer this.
Your doctors are idiots IF THEY TELL YOU THAT YOU CAN NOT RIDE (AND i MEAN f---ING IDIOTS????) you should not have SEX (aka penetrating intercourse) for 48 hours after a biopsy and 2 weeks after a LEEP. but there are no other restrictions. (to be totally honest, I did not wait for 2 weeks after my LEEP to have sex and the sex was good and I'm alive to tell about it)
I have heard the stupidest things from Md's. I have a rider buddy who is also a neurosurgeon who thinks riding could cause a miscarriage (WTF???) and a certified nurse midwife that told a friend of mine that if she rode her baby would be breech (again WTF????)
Your vagina's are safe girlfriend please keep riding (horses)

Ditto this comment (and it might be TMI), but we went home from the doctor and both had the day off.

Been there, done that (twice now). I did not ride for several days, but that was due to major, MAJOR cramping. Sitting on a horse during those few days was absolutely unappealing to me. But I was told I could resume normal activities aside from sexual within 48 hours.

I don't metabolize Versed & Fentanyl very well--felt EVERYTHING during my colonoscopy & biopsy. I was sent home quickly and still so under the influence that I passed out for hours. I woke in the wee hours with the most ungodly stinging coming from my anus where he took 4 biopsies. I was in tears for hours. The surgery center called to check on me and I lit into the poor girl for their pathetic pain management. She transferred me to the center's manager who remembered me and the extreme pain I was in (screaming and writhing) but blew it off because they don't give pain meds for biopsies. When I saw the doctor a couple days later, he looked confused as to why I'd be furious that he gave me no topical pain relief while agreeing the the location was one of the most sensitive on the human body so yes, it would hurt. Jackass. A year later and my blood pressure still rises just talking about it
Anyway, I didn't eat for 3 days out of fear of pain. No way I could have ridden that week.
That said, I was up on Bailey bareback just 3 weeks after finishing the intense chemo/radiation treatment for the cancer :D

That sound horrible.
But the OP was about a COLPoscopy not a COLONoscopy - very different.
