What a neat looking pair!

(I dont have ANYTHING to do with these horses! Just saw the ad and have never seen a face marking like this one before!)
Has anyone seen anything like the black faced one in any other breed before?

Love that :) It's called a Badger Face. It's not uncommon in the Gypsy Vanners, and is seen in other breeds as well.

It's probably a good thing these girls are too far away from me!

That is cool! I've never seen that before.
My sabino/splash stallion, Wayward Wind, has some unusual facial markings. He has what is called a bald face with goggles.

Pretty wild. And she had a solid foal. Freaky. Color breeding will always be a mystery to me.

Very nice! Someone could make a living just taking and selling photographs of them!
Good thing they are so far from me as well!

That tends to happen when you have Splash and Sabino together - Sabino seems to work to keep white off the eyes, Splash trying to put it on :)

Jordana...what do you make of Telluride's, the foal, facial markings? Splash also? He is by Wayward Wind who does carry one copy of Sabino 1. That goggled look is not uncommon in Sequoyah's descendants in our breed. I have had several foals with that type of facial marking now.

DB, I'm nearly positive it's Splash and Sabino as well :)
I bet you'll find, if you get enough WW foals, that they nearly always have "different" face white. There are a few stallions who are pretty consistent that way - Sempatico is one.

They're both beautiful, but that solid black face - WOW!! They could make a mint loaning her out to movies and calendars!

That is SO cool! It reminds me of a picture I saw of an Arabian mare. She was grey but had a bay blaze down one half of her face. It was just the neatest thing.

Can remember her name - I think she'd be about 6 or 7 now. And I have NO idea at all what you'd even call this marking other than possibly a "fried egg marking" ?!

I LOVE the black-faced mare. If I had loads of money I'd buy her just to look out the window each day and marvel at that face. How cool. And the fried-egg/bullseye star on that filly. What fun!

Well...it's a westerny kind of name...there is a town in Colorado called Telluride. It is said to derive from "To Hell you ride"...but that may or may not be true. My colt is a Spanish Mustang/Colonial Spanish Horse though...and not quite the same thing as what most people think of as a mustang.

It's a variation of the "bloody shoulder". They're called Blood Marks. They can appear anywhere - butt, barrel, shoulder, neck, face.

Boy, those ARE seriously cool looking horses - really look striking against that white snow, too. Of course, you couldn't buy just one; you have to have the other one to complete the set . ;)
Very cool; thanks for sharing.

Okay - not a face marking, but I have never seen a random *bum* marking like this one before!

How very very cool and strange as well, especially with the absence of any other white on his body except for this *splotch* and the minimal facial marking

Likely a somatic mutation.
