The Jacksonville / St. Augustine site had several "firsts" in the inspection held on Saturday, July 25.

First time hosting a BWP inspection. We had a great turnout -- 18 horses, including mares, foals, yearlings and a stallion. Unfortuately, being newbies we did not write down everyone's scores so we will have to wait until the BWP posts the results for the full report.

We were the first site to host the new H-Label inspection. See the BWP site at http://www.belgianwarmblood.com/bwp_HunterLabel.html for information on this new program.

We had the first stallion approved in the new BWP/NAD Hunter Book. He is a new stallion for the BWP and was first approved with the BWP. He then went through and was approved under the new H-Label. His name is Richard (US show name is Decadent), imported KWPN registered, black with 3 whites and a blaze. He has shown in both the hunter ring and through Grand Prix show jumping. He has met the sport requirements and is fully approved. Congratulations to his owner/rider, Michelle Schlueter.

One of his 2008 fillies, "Independence BF", was also registered with the BWP/NAD Hunter Book and is the first offspring of an approved stallion in the new book. Congratulatons to her owner, Michelle Schlueter.

I believe we had 5-6 mares go through and be approved in the BWP/NAD Hunter Book as well. Congratulations to all of their owners.

We also had the first pony foal to be "branded" in the US with the Belgian sport pony brand. This is the first year the pony brand is being used in the US. Congratulations to Jo McCracken on her handsome little pony colt !!

I can't find it anywhere on the BWP website which inspections are doing the hunter judging. That would be nice to know. I see that it may depend on entries so when will they make a determination and post the information?

There were 3 sites that applied for the Hunter pilot program. The second one is tomorrow in Maryland. The 3rd will be my site August 5th.

I just finished braiding mine for that today. It's been a crazy morning, had mare/foal locked in the run in and our filly decided she WOULD find a way to jump out. So now they are out in the pasture b/c I'd rather them be dirty then injured, but is off again on again pouring rain and both mom and baby are pretty determined to get the braids out, so I'm afraid what they are going to look like by the time we hit the road. Sigh. I HATE HATE HATE braiding and frankly suck at it royally but NO WAY am I paying $85 for someone else to do it, I don't have that much toilet money (aka FLUSH). My mare is going for her H label so my fingers and toes are crossed :)

Good luck to you and your site today :) I think our H-Label inspection went great and I am sure that yours and Nancy's will as well (I heard a little rumor that Ironrule was being presented as well :):):)). How exciting this new program is !!!

okggo- Good luck! Let us know how everything went. Don't feel bad, I have weanling I am presenting who is in the truelly worst growth stage ever, and to make things even worse, she is a chestnut that is molting a weird taupe grey, her face looks like she has a disease. She will win the rattiest looking foal award hands down.

Hi SFStable, again congrats on a wonderful inspection! Yes indeed, I am presenting Ironrule for H label. Also a weanling full sister. Right now we have 6-7 for the H label. I hope it goes as well as yours did.

He had foals in Holland so he had to have an approval.

I didn't say the bloodlines were new but new to NA (or more specifically to the US).

So Jackie, what stallions available fresh are similarly bred?

Budweiser was a Burggraaf son but he's been gone for a long time.

I think having a stallion who competed at the Grand Prix showjumping level is pretty cool.

I noticed he may be recommended with mares that also have Burggraaf. Generally--is that done-- to cross Burggraaf back to Burggraaf? (Lets say the mare was by a Burggraaf son...and do you have to worry about too much landgraf?) Just curious--Thanks

He was approved AES in 2002.

Nice looking boy. New bloodlines for NA.

BWP doesn't differentiate between US approvals and Euro approvals. If he's met his sport requirements (and it looks like he has) then he is fully licensed with the BWP - both in Europe and in the US.

I'd never do that type of breeding. I've also never seen double Burggraaf in a pedigree. He was a very big boy.

I just did a quick count. I have 15 horses right now, 6 with Burggraaf, 5 with le Mexico, and 5 with Amor. Maybe that's why I said it. I just happen to have a lot of that blood at home.

Off the top of my head, Baron Von Burggraaf, Oxford, Hexagon Louisville are Burggraaf sons.

Amor is pedigree of a lot of mares. I know of two stallions locally (VDL Ulando and VDL Windsor) that have Amor as the maternal great grand sire...but I'm sure there are more...just don't have time right now to look them up. Judgement has Amor through Akteur.

ESops Fable is a son of Le Mexico. Through Ulft it would be in a lot of mares as well, and a few stallions. Rousseau is the first that comes to mind through Ferro, Fairplay is an Ulft. With Idocus and Olivier you get Le Mexico through Zonneglans.

Either way...it's great breeding. I have lots of it because I love it. My favourite mare is a daughter of Kadans who stood at stud in Canada. He has Amor and Le Mexico which is why it's in a lot of my herd.

Baron Van Gogh is a lovely Burggraaf son who has a killer dam line. I put him to a Final Pool xx mare.

Thanks, you guys, for putting on such a nice inspection! The farm is really incredible!!!!! I felt a little ignorant, being the "dressage" person there, but learned a lot about the hunters; very interesting!
Hope you've recovered since Sat!
