I have no idea, but the originals are definitely worth the price! I love them, although I did have to put vetrap around them because I was paranoid they'd scratch my saddle when I ran the stirrups up. I only take the vetrap off for cross country.

Well, I've had mine for almost 2 years and they are still going strong. So I think it's worth the $30. You get what you pay for.

Yeah, me too. I have two pairs and both are pretty good. One pair I think might be three years old and they are just fine.
Not too many things last any more - I was just doing tack while listening to Whitefish Radio and the Rebecca Farm gold cup feed, and thinking, what pieces of tack where WORTH the money, and what have not been worth it?
Those pads were on the Worth It list. The Not Worth It list is pretty long unfortunately...Tory leather (sigh because I really like the Tory rubber rein design) is sliding over onto the Not side...I've had two pairs start to get aged and ratty within a year of purchase and that's not economical. Rein shopping again due to my arthritis, my hands are just getting worse and worse now. Any ideas? Not to hijack the thread but it's in the tack direction....

The ThinLine reins are being redesigned -maybe try those!

Also, ThinLine stirrup wraps are due for release shortly... Very nice feel and also help the knees a ton!

Thanks for the good reviews. I have four saddles to outfit, so I was hoping I could get a nice set for my good saddle and cheapies for the schooling saddles, but alas, I'll just suck it up. :) Its worth it to not have to get new knees and ankles in a few years, right?

Can anyone who has used the super comfort pads for awhile say whether they do scratch your saddle when the stirrups are run up? I'm interested in trying them but not eager to scratch my Amerigo.

Put a men's athletic sock over them after you run them up.
I have a couple pairs of these and none scratched my saddles. The stupid leftover pieces from the zip ties will poke your hand, tho! I cut them as close as I could and they STILL stick out....I really like my Composite stirrups better than the stirrups with the comfort pads now anyhow.

I've been using them about a year now. Hasn't scratched my saddle.

I actually have these on my jump saddle as well, now! I love them. Big help with the knees and ankles. All my die-hard-traditional friends love the width but hate the light weight, but I haven't noticed any issues.

I love mine and agree they are worth the money! They haven't scratched my saddle at all and I don't take any special precautions with them. My zip ties don't stick out either; I put them on very very tight and clipped the ends all the way to the little holder thing. Don't forget to take your original stirrup pads off before you put them on!

I just had a thought that may make your life easier (and a little more fun in the making) what about slipping crown royal bags over your stirrups when you run them up?

I have had the Super Comfort pads scratch my saddle (and it's a decent saddle, a Black Country), so I just cut up an old polo wrap and wrap the pads before running my stirrups up. It works just fine.

I saw a super-cool pair of reins today that you might like. They were wintec, so synthetic through and through, but the 'rubber' part was made out of the same outer stuff that the Wintec elastic girths are made, so grippy, soft, spongy and thicker than regular rubber reins, with more to grip onto, but without feeling thick or bulky. I must look up where to buy them. My friend has them because she's a BN eventer first time round at 62, getting slightly arthritic in the hands, and she loves them.

I second this! They're great to hold on to.

How are the stirrup pads when they get wet? I've been having trouble with feeling insecure after going through water on course. It's probably mostly mental, but as soon as my stirrups get wet, I fear slipping out of them over a big jump and dying a terrible, horrific death. A bit overdramatic, I know.

I've had them for years now on both my dressage and jump saddle. No Scratches, though I made sure the ends were clipped very short and centered under the bottom of the iron.

I have had no issues with the wet either, water jumps, at the beach and the pond, riding in the rain, they are very secure.

I have to second all the great comments about these stirrup pads!! I had a lot of trouble with knee and ankle pain and these have made a huge difference! Definitely worth the money. No problem with scratches on my saddles either.

It does add up though if you are buying for multiple saddles. I would at least try and put them on the saddles you use the most.

I have not noticed any issues with them getting wet. I had the metal grated ones before and did not feel nearly as secure in them, especially in the rain.

I bought the super comfort pads after falling off last year in a clinic right after a water jump because my composite stirrups got so slick! Best thing I ever did! They have not scratced my saddle but as others have said, I have poked my hand a lot.
