I feel like an idiot. I need to do one on my gelding. I haven't done one in forever and I want to check on the proper way of doing one. Can I do one joint at a time? Checking knee and fetlock for mystery lameness.
Horse comes in lame this AM, no cuts bumps bruises etc. No heat or swelling. will put most weight on foot, foot does not respond to testers. He is off but not 3 legged lame, he will go 3 legged and when he does he seems to not be able to extend heel down to ground, keeps weight on toe for couple steps. Trots off very lame,on toe, seems very reluctant to put hoof all the way down.
Yes I know Call a vet. Will do so tomorrow. vets in my area do not do emergency calls.
I am looking to see if I can identify lameness area and what else I can do for him tonight, ie wrap ice etc. Has been given 2g bute. Appetite good, drinking good and normal temp.
Any ideas please?
