I was looking at the scores, and saw that in prelim almost half the riders withdrew or were eliminated. I wonder why. I didn't think we got any major rain overnight that would have wrecked the footing. Anyone know? It's not like that for the other divisions.

I think the footing was a big factor. From what I was overhearing, many chose not to run to avoid stressing tendons in the deep footing....lots are entered in upcoming events and didn't want to risk it.

Footing was deep- I rode novice which was later in the day and it was heavy in spots for us, never mind the early morning before the ground had time to dry out. That being said everyone seemed to be thrilled with the course, the day before. The show jumping however was very tricky. I have never seem so many rails in any division N-P, both ammies, pros and BNR's.
It was however an outstanding event, It was our first time and I will absolutely be back every year.
Well done and thank you very much to the organizers, volunteers and competitors.
Also, GMHA is next weekend, and Millbrook is the weekend after so I'm sure everyone is thinking of their horses preservation.

I'm glad at least no one was swept away in a giant tornado through stadium this year. (Last year a HORRIFIC storm rolled in just before N masters stadium. We were seriously scared for our lives).
Congrats to everyone who did well!

I was competing Training there. We had a heavy thunder and lightning storm roll in Friday night and another heavier one Saturday night. Training rode XC on Saturday after dressage. The footing was excellent, except for two low areas. Stadium footing was horrendous, but nothing could be done. Had I ridden prelim with my other horse, I would have withdrawn from jumping XC and stadium.
