My horse has finally gotten is dressage where it needs to be. I am looking to go an event this fall. I was wondering about jumpstarts BN course? He has a few issues about water and ditches. Can anyone tell me if they had these on course on last year and what other jumps they had so maybe I can find somewhere to work him thru these problems?
Thanks

JumpStart used to be a move up course. The past two years, it has not been one. They do have a trot through water with no option. One year they had what they called a fake ditch. They took dark mulch and simulated a ditch. You will probably see a bank with an option.

If you are worried, you still have time to go someplace and school water and ditches.

If you can make the trip to the horse park, there is an open cross country schooling day on august 8, and there is another in september, where you could have the opportunity to work on those issues over the terrain you would ride at Jumpstart. It is $35

Go to www.minitrialseries.org (http://www.minitrialseries.org) and look at the upcoming events in your area. I know that Bath PC will be having one of their mini's soon. They always have open cross country schooling on Saturday, before the show day on Sunday. You might even enter one of those at BN to get some more experience, before you make the trip. I do know that Bath PC has some open schooling dates, too. They have a great water complex and bank. Good luck. I hope that you make it down.

I did jumpstart BN last year with my guy. It was his first recognized. there was no ditch and i'm pretty sure no bank. I'm almost 100% positive the water was a mandatory flagged (run through) so you got time penalties but no jump penalties if you had stops. My guy jumped clean and had only been doing eventing for 2 months. He had schooled there several times though so he was prepared. It was a great course...only two fences seemed "up to size" to me. I think it was a great first event for him. Although championships for BN/N is there this year so I don't know how different the courses are going to be. Hope this helps.
