My boy is going to a few recognized events with my trainer, yippee! Want him to look good, so it is time for a new dressage bridle. Just wondering what the current trend is, if any. What style, bling or no bling, or whatever you prefer. I saw a beautiful rolled bridle- is that ok? thanks

I don't think there is a trend. I see a lot of variety. I think the rolled bridles look nice. What color is he? Any markings on the face?

I've got bling on the browband for my guy... some bling always looks good, especially if they lack that bling themselves. Depending on the horse's head, rolled bridles do look nice. My guys got big QH style heads, so no round bridles for them ;).

How exciting! I'm a big fan of clean and classic so, no bling for me (or those V-shaped browbands for that matter, haha). My dressage bridle is just a simple black bridle with some extra padding on the noseband. If hes a darker horse, I think that the white padding would really make him pop :) A rolled bridle sounds nice although I like the flatter pieces. Anyways, I'm sure he'll look great in whatever you choose! Good luck with him this fall!

I think the current trend seems to be raised bridles (w/ flash generally), fairly thick, unpadded or with matching padding. Not much bling lately. I don't think I've seen too many rolled bridles recently.

But really, get what you want! Personally, I like thinner bridles on horses with fine, small heads and thicker ones on bigger/ plain heads. And very minimal bling, on horses without much white only. I usually go with basic and classic, but mine have to last 10-15 years, if not longer, so I want something that isn't too distinctive or trendy.

I like plain plain.

I like a plain bridle, raised and padded, not too thick of noseband. Brass buckles on the right horse and I really like a nice brass clincher browband (well polished) or a silver clincher on a grey.

My boy is chestnut. I like black on chestnuts, but not super thick. Here is his, pretty plain (the flash was taken off for the jog) with brass buckles and a clincher browband. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=795984&l=43e1da0d16&id=290901088 (I believe this is a cookiepony picture)

I only like to see contrasting padding on a horse with a very steady head. It's like taped braids or white gloves... if it contrasts too much, it highlights an unsteady head or connection.

I like to see the horse shine, not be distracted by tack. If you want trends, you're in the wrong folder, LOL.

rolled bridle sounds nice. This is the bridle of my dreams....if I win the lottery it is MINE...but until then... The picture doesn't do it justice though...the leather is nicer than ALL of my shoes.

A friend has a Hennig rolled double bridle for her FEI horse....LOVE it. In the end, go with what ever bridle you like (and can afford!).

I'm old school I guess. I tend to like classic simplicity. I think the metal browbands look western or something. Not my thing. I'd rather have my horse stand out because of how great he's going - not because of a glittery browband.

That could be my horse modelling that Hennig bridle - but she goes in the Stubben l000 with wide noseband and 5/8" cheeks and looks just as nice. It is plain but handsome.

Mother of God! For $750 (on "sale", snort) that bridle better cook me dinner and magically make my horse move like Ravel!

lol..people spend that kind of money on shoes. Not me...which is why I said I would only buy it if I won the lottery. But I've seen it in person...and damn...that leather is really nice as well as a unique buckle system...but it is a lot of money.

I have this one:

with the red inlay and think it is just blingy enough on my plain bay's big chunky head.

I think the trend is more black on black padding (or brown/brown)... I'm seeing less of the black/white bridles that used to be popular.

I also like the clincher browbands, but only on horses with few, if any facial markings. My horse has a super cute star/strip, and I think a flashy browband would be too much on him... but to each his own! :D If you want bling, go for it! (Just keep it on the browband -- not both browband and noseband.)

I have this one and like the bit of navy padding to add some interest without bling perse
