I went to MHC. Smith's barn was a little outdated, but they had this cool conveyor belt system for mucking where you forked the manure into the recessed conveyor belt outside the horse's stall, so no wheelbarrows. Their indoor is decent. Sorry, not much help. Maybe they need riding help to get the horse's in shape prior to Fall semester? I wouldn't think they'd need much help during the school year.
Northampton is a pretty cool place to live and work. Have a slice of pizza for me if you go visit.

I went to Smith for my freshman year and worked there to help defray my mare's board. Sue Payne was the manager/head instructor back then and I think she still is. There is (or was) an apartment in the barn for the assistant manager. It seemed to me that the assistant manager worked hard, at least long hours. The assistant manager paid me to stay in the apartment and do night check a bunch of times so she could have a night off (at her expense). Now maybe the assistant manager was making a mint for those hours but I didn't get that impression. So far as just barn chores (mucking, etc) best I can remember the pay was fair. Hope that helps and that you like Western Mass. I couldn't wait to hightail it out of there back to Virginia for lots of reasons that had very little to do with Fox Meadow.
