Started brushing my horse today, and found an unusual amount of loose, single hair ... some hairy ridges ... more hair than I expected ...

Nooo! He cannot be starting to shed his summer coat! It's only July! Winter is not coming!

My pony started first - right after the summer solstice. Now the horses are also shedding :no: And although the pony's hair is still short - I can see areas where the hair is getting thicker.

Seems like I just got them all shed out and sleek. Ugh - I hate to think of winter coats already!

June 21st was, what, three, four weeks ago? They are light sensitive, not temp. So, they are gearing up for the eventuality. It's not like they can spring that stuff out overnight, you know. :lol:

Oh, yes, they can. Sleek polished boy today - SPROING - wooly mammoth coat tomorrow. Thankfully, I'm not seeing too many signs of it yet.

I know! I told mine this was piss-poor planning. We still have August to go before we get to the next ice age he knows is coming. But he is a descendent of prepared (read: paranoid) survivors, dammit, and he won't be told to change his ways now after millions of years of evolution.

Mine's shedding too... has been for about a week, maybe more.

I am in Ga. and Tyr the thin skinned princess is shedding like mad, I curry every day and brush out a LOT of hair, mainly coming off her back and hips..

she's getting ready to do the wooly booly caterpiller thing..and it's July and hot here.

Mine never seems to stop. We go straight from one cycle to the next. So yes, we have been blowing white coat all over the barn aisle for about three weeks.

My TB started shedding out last week....sigh. :-(
