I don't need another horse, and I know color is a terrible reason to pick a horse...BUT I just LOVE LOVE LOVE this color pattern! I have been passively looking for a b/w pinto with minimal white and stockings for the past year or so. His breeding is good too :) I would prefer an older horse, but the price is right, and it would be fun (and challenging) to bring up a baby myself. So talk me out of it please!!!

You don't need another horse, and color is the LAST reason someone should buy a new horse.
You say the price is right....add in the next couple years that you will be funding before you can begin to work with him. Is the price still right?
You say you would prefer an older horse. Do you have experience raising foals/young horses? Do you have a suitable boarding arrangement (board or at home) that would allow him herd time with equines near his own age so he can be properly socialized?
Aren't you the poster who was having so many issues with your one young ASB and the "trainer" you sent him to?
My gut feeling is no....you do not need this foal.

I was going to stay out of this, but *someone* emailed me about it.
What is it you are looking for him to be able to do?

Oh dear, I was kidding. I retract my enabling endorsement and ditto asb_own_me 's gut reaction.

It is actually.
Do you have experience raising foals/young horses? Do you have a suitable boarding arrangement (board or at home) that would allow him herd time with equines near his own age so he can be properly socialized?
I don't have personal experience with horses younger than yearling age. I do have friends/fellow boarders with tons of experience raising babies, and yes there are other youngsters where I board for socialization. They are all on pasture in small herds 24/7, except for bad weather or excessive heat.
Aren't you the poster who was having so many issues with your one young ASB and the "trainer" you sent him to?
I did very much so have issues with the trainer (who came highly recommended with multiple references) but I DON'T have issues with my horse. He is absolutely wonderful and I have him going beautifully now. My horse is worth his weight in gold! :) I learned a very valuable lesson with that experience...one that won't be repeated.
I didn't want to get into a debate here actually. I really just wanted to share the adorable picture of a very cute ASB. I am an adult, and my husband, trainer, barn owner, and I, are quite capable of making mature decisions about things of this nature. I really don't need a BB to help me. I was just trying to have a little fun, so please don't worry. Thanks!

Glad to hear your horse has improved so much. Have you been riding him? How's that going? Hopefully the dressage trainer you mentioned you'd be working with is working out better than that other bozo!
