So here I am sitting in the waiting room of the auto shop...
waiting for my car to be finished...
When this man & his wife came tearing into the parking are where the husband flew out of the car, ran into the office/waiting area and proceeded to flip a nutty about his car that was just in a few hours ago for an oil change.... claiming that he always did his own oil changes before and when he checked the car when his wife came home with it... found that the dipstick was "broken" at the handle... "You people damaged my car..." bla bla bla...
I'm stitting there not really surprised and start thinking of myself "Wow... what a jerk...." I mean sure IF there was damage done at this shop they by rights are responsible for the repairs (right?) So why was this guy flipping a nutty and red faced from screaming (I could understand if it was a Jag or BMW but it was a banged up looking POS)... I'm thinking guilt... I bet he broke the dip stick trying to get something for nothing from the shop.. (am I really that distrusting and jaded??) I just don't understand why people feel the need to be obnoctious in public if something is wrong with a service or transaction... I (wisely kept my mouth shut to his whack job) but can't help but think... am I missing something... SHOULD you check the car after getting an oilchange/service?? If this man "always" did his own oil change why not this time?? Why in the world did this person feel it necicary to cause a sceen and get all red faced and "rabid"??? anyone have any suggestions/ possible reasons?

So am I the only one that read NHR as something about Natural Horse R-something or another & expected carrot sticks?

(Gotta be horse related or they'll close your post - the mods do give us off-topic days every now and then for discussion of pretty much anything that's not horse related, but otherwise, not so much.)

Nope, I was thinking the same thing. :D

I, no lie, thought it was about a NH-man who blamed someone else for his car's problems!

Dip stick, carrot stick - it's all bull stick.

Sounds like the guy was a real winner. Screechy women are worse - and for some reason they annoy me more if they have those fancy manicures. Don't ask me why.

I can totally understand! Can't really describe how, but I can understand, if that makes sense.

I would check. One of those places cost me a new engine after they put the filter in wrong, as well as a few other things. Was pulling my trailer when the engine blew. That was fun. Not.

I usually did the maintenance on my truck as well, but didn't feel like changing my oil in the driveway, in the dark, in January the night before I was supposed to leave.

I think "NHR" is "not horse related", which, after a few years on this board, almost directly translates into "save it for a different forum".

Lessons learned over time. Welcome, new person!

Hi MoodyMare ~

Welcome to the forums! Though the title can be confusing, Off Course is for horse-relatedtopics that don't fit in the other forums (or fit in all of them!). We occassionally run Off-Topic Days where the subject matter doesn't have to be horsey.

Enjoy the board and please let me know if you have any questions!
