So I think I already know the answer to this question but Id like to hear people's thoughts...
I started leasing a mare in May...shes fabulous and very educated but shes one of those horses who hates to flat but looooves to jump. I ended up getting in contact with some people that used to lease her and they said that her flat work was very difficult....So I've been having lots of trouble with her flat work. Shes just so hard in her mouth at it takes her soooo long to give in and then she just hangs on me....I figure I'm just going to work through it and I plan on taking some dressage lessons.....well today I decided I wanted to go out and just hop on her bareback for a nice little hack for a change...Ive ridden her bareback before but just on a loose rein, not asking her to bend or anything but this time I decided I would try a little bend. I was curious. and voila! within two strides she was on the bit and the softest she had EVER been!!!! at the trot it was more difficult but I felt like there was more to work with than there was when I rode in a saddle.....So I figure this means I need a new saddle! (dreading this!)......My saddle seems to fit fine but Im going to take a loook at it again with no pads to see and then try riding with no half pad, just a baby pad to see what that does.......
thoughts?
