So. I have one mixed-breed female dog who has for some time been prompted to begin singing whenever she hears a siren (police, sherrif, ambulance). I live not too far from a major-artery 4-lane, so there are quite a few of these that go by, so she gets to sing a good bit.

I also have a pack of coyotes living somewhere on my property; often hear them at night, and see occasional tracks in my pastures, arena, etc.

The other day, I'm up in my arena (behind my house) riding, and I hear coyotes up in the woods. First, just a few yips. Then, they get going. THEN, I hear the siren, and my Girldog joins in.

The dang coyotes are higher on the mountain, so they hear the sirens before I do, but now Girldog has "trained" them to sing with the sirens, too. Since I'm down to only two dogs (the Corgi joins in, as well, but doesn't instigate), I guess she was missing the accompanyment.

It got rather noisy there for a while ... There were at least four voices, probably more, perhaps a litter? Fortunately, I was on my bombproof horse; I'm not sure that my other fellow would have stood still for the chorus!

I love hearing them at night...finally my old Lab is so deaf that he can't hear them and "get started" ;)

it's really nice on cold still winter nights....their voices carry for miles
