Interesting development.....just read that in the Horse Journal:
How can you say it’s OK to feed distiller’s grains when the FDA is currently investigating their use in feed stock? They’re filled with antibiotics that exceed FDA recommendations and could be causing many horses to feel poorly.
Apparently this survey has been going on since 2007??! Why does it take this long?

..DDG doesn't always have antibiotics in it. If the livestock producer chooses to add it, then yes it does. But considering it's a byproduct/coproduct of distilling booze and ethanol, it doesn't inherently have antibiotics in it.

Had never heard of it before.......

Wouldn't antibiotics tend to screw with the distillation process?

Antibiotics aren't added until after the entire process. They're mixed with the byproduct, after distillation.
As far as I know, the only issues folks have with DDG is that there's a chance for mold, it is quite unbalanced in its Ca:P ratio, and there's not a whole lot of research done about DDG being a feedstuff for horses.
