What is causing my new mare to have so many issues all with one hind leg? First, the inside of her cannon has hard bumps and has a scar going across it. Bumps haven't gone away since I first noticed them last winter. Then both her rear hooves got these abrasions on the front of the hoof walls. Looks like she stepped on herself on both sides! Next, she got a nick on the inside of her hock, and it was swollen for a week. I noticed this a day after she'd been lunged over an 18" jump--could she have struck herself? On the hock? She does travel narrowly behind.
