Everyone knows that Smartpak Equine rocks, but did you know they also sell dog and cat food? In smartpaks, nonetheless. I am thrilled. I called last week for samples and my usually finicky eater lab mix gobbled it right up. I placed my order for both dogs and both cats today! I priced it all out and it isn't any more expensive feeding the smartpaks than the bags I was purchasing at PetsMart and now, I don't even have to remember to go to the store. The food ingredients in their brand name food is comparable to what I was feeding.

Add in a free shipping code and viola! I am a very satisfied customer. I love Smartpak.

I switched my 10yo Lab over to the LiveSmart Senior formula a year ago. He has never looked better! It might cost me $5 more per month to feed then buying the large bags, but the customer satisfaction & peace of mind is definately worth it. When the melamine scare happened, Smartpak had notified all of it's customers within hours, and shipped out new shipments imemediately! You just can't put a price on peace of mind!

I switched over to their LiveSmart Lamb and Brown Rice for my golden retriever and am quite pleased with the results for my dog's ears and overall health, and my checking account.

To backtrack a little. My golden used to do great on Canidae, but when they changed their formula she started up with ear infections once again and even around her eyes. We tried a couple of other foods along with our vet treating her. Taste of the Wild (our old cat is doing great on cat version) seemed to work best and her coat was lovely on it, but the ears just wouldn't completely settle down to normal. During my research I found out that some whole dogs magazine highly rated SmartPak's dog food (lamb and brown rice) for allergy-prone dogs. We started her on it late June and already her ears are clearing up and that's without ear medication. :) She seems perkier and who wouldn't if suddenly your ears felt normal again. She is doing well on the same amount of LiveSmart dog food as she's had previously.

So now our airedale cross has been started on this food as well and seems to have adjusted fairly readily. I love the Smartpaks and they are cheaper than if we purchased the large bags, oddly enough.

I use the free shipping codes, enjoy receiving the dog food at my door, the price is quite reasonable for the LiveSmart food, and my dogs are healthy....definitely a win situation!

Has anyone used their cat food? I am thinking of giving it a try when I put in my next SmartPak order, and I wondered what others experiences were.

Another nice note about Smart Pak canine is that they can auto ship for other than every 28 days. I had to call and speak to someone, but they are now shipping Frontline Plus to me every 3 months.

Great company.

Argh I tried twice to do a link and it's not working for me.

Sorry, I should have been more clear when I was posting. SmartPak has a cat food called LiveRight in their daily dose containers. I am not familiar with that brand, and am not sure if it comes from the SmartPak company itself, or if it is simply someone else's brand of cat food they use?

I love Smartpak Canine and I buy all my dog products there, but not their food. They have just about everything I ever need. Love them!

Yup, I get my dog food (Wellness Senior -- AWESOME) from them. It comes in the same shipment with my horse's supplements so I don't have to pay any extra shipping. I haven't found the cat food yet though, is this new??? I LOVE not having to make a special trip for pet food!

Yeah, I think this time the link will work!

In re-reading SmartPak's website it says they are the only ones to have that LiveRight cat food, so I guess that partially answers my question. But I am still wondering if anyone else has used it, esp. since many people seem to like their canine food.

their Livesmart foods do have very decent ingredients, and they also have Wellness CORE which is one of the best grain-free foods on the market. I don't feed kibble, but I now use their doggy supplement smartpaks- I used to spend 30 minutes every morning measuring out various supplements/ drugs for various dogs, and when I had to go out of town no one could figure out how to properly supplement/medicate the dogs. Now it's peel and dump, couple of minutes, anyone can do it.

I looked into their dry foods but the ingredients are not high enough quality. Beet pulp, powdered cellulose, garlic, and too many grains. Not appropriate ingredients for dogs at all. CORE is premium quality, but you can buy it elsewhere for better prices.

Another great, high quality, species appropriate dry kibble is Taste of the Wild. It is cheaper than CORE, but is also a 6-star premium food. I buy TOTW on rotation because my dogs prefer the tast of it over the CORE varieties by far. I also feed Fromm grain free Surf n Turf as part of the rotation. I do also buy the other premium varieties of Fromm to rotate through, but I like the grain-free formulation the best.

Others to consider are Timberwolf, Blue Wilderness, EVO, or Orijen.

If you feed a really high quality, pemium dog food, you end up feeding MUCH less than the cheaper ones that are full of filler. I have also noticed less vet bills - no going to the vet every 6 months for anal gland, ear, and teeth cleanings. ;)

A long time ago I used to feed Science Diet, and the consumption was more than double what it is with Fromm and TOTW.

My indoor cat eats Fromm and TOTW also. The outdoor cat eats cheap store brand, unfortunately. But until I can find a way to keep the chickens, pigeons, and stray cats from eating with her, I can't do much about it. I bring her in the feed room and give her canned premium food a few times a week though, at least. She also catches mice and eats greens as she feels so inclined. That's just the problem with having a barn cat I guess.
