Howdy,

My 8 month old golden was just diagnosed w/anaplasmosis (a tick borne disease) and is now on doxy.

To help his digestive tract while he's on the doxy, I'd like to get some probiotics into him soon. Until I can buy a dog formula (Nature's Farmacy Dogzymes, Fastrack for dogs or similar), I was wondering if I can use the Fastrack I feed the horses for my dog?

If so, any idea what the recommended amount would be for a 63 lb golden?

Thanks in advance...

a half-teaspoon to a teaspoon would be fine. Start small and watch stool.

Yogurt is good too. My dogs also always got DynaPro, which is quite similar to Ration Plus. They get a pinch of Diamond V XP (yeast) too... all for the same reasons. ;)

A tablespoon of Activia yougurt works just as well, and depending on how long he's going to be on doxy it might be more cost effective.

Thanks for the yogurt suggestions but I've heard that dairy product decrease the absorption of the doxy so I've actually stopped the Stoneyfield's organic fat-free plain that I was giving him.

That's when the thought of the Fastrack popped into my head and prompted this post.

Thanks!

Ah, interesting! I did not know that. See, learned something TODAY too!

Good luck. My parent's dog, full sib to my two, had Lyme a couple years ago. She was miserable, but has bounced back better than the humans with it do.

Hope the pup feels better soon!
