Who feeds purina strategy?!? and do you love it/hate it? what results have you seen w/ it? and what type of horse/type of work do they do? I've just recently switched most of my horses onto it...so far so good! and they seem to love the taste of it-even my pickiest TB seems to love it,and eagerly now eats his food, and finishes it alot quicker than when previously on Triple Crown Low starch-which i ran out of and gave him some strategy in the mean time until the feed store got the shipment in of TC LS in...but now i'm reconsidering-and thinking of keeping him on the strategy since he seems to like it so much...my only hesitation-is that he looks great and has been on the TC for like almost 2 years-but he just seems to really be enjoying the strategy...but so many people complain about the quality of Purina, and think that Triple Crown is far Superior to Purina

I'd like to hear everybody's opinion

Thanks in Advance

The barn I ride for feeds Strategy. It's a dressage barn with primarily warmbloods. They all do quite well on it. I've never been a big Purina fan but I have to say Strategy seems to be pretty good.

Been feeding it for 20+ years now, no problems with any horse. My hard working show horses are on it and so are my weekend fun horses. Along with good quality hay, the horses stay at a healthy weight with smaller quantity than other feeds.

One of my horses gets a mix of strategy and senior and he does very well. I have to mix them though because he does not seem to like the taste of the Strategy by itself.

I have fed it for donkey's years. I add ricebran to up the fat content a bit. The horses have nearly always done well on it--except for my soy allergy guy who can't touch it.

My elderly gelding has recently decided he's just not that into it any more, so I've moved him to Senior (which has a stronger smell and so I suspect a stronger flavor, which gets through to the old man's taste buds better.)

But my 17 year old loves it and looks just magnificent on it. He's a huge horse, 17 hands and built like a tank, and I don't have to feed that much of it for good muscling, great coat, great feet, happy demeanor. Couldn't ask for much more, really.

For my own convenience I tried putting them both on Senior. The 17 year old turned into a complete freak, so he went back on Strategy and got his brains back.

I switched to Strategy last winter upon the advice of my vet. My horses all love the taste, they have great coats and feet. And slowly my one TB is gaining that last elusive 100 lbs. :)

When my horses were boarded they were on it and did very well on a small amount. During my major move, they lived with a friend of mine who didn't want to feed Strategy. Even though she fed them way more high quality grain, they were thin when I moved them to our new farm. I put them back on Strategy and they both gained weight and maintained on much less than my friend was feeding. Both of these horses were 20+ yr. old Tbs.

I had a TB/QH mare on it for about six months last year and I wasn't too impressed. Her coat was coarse and didn't have that lovely bloom to it, and she had issues keeping her weight, but for at least part of that time she was not getting adequate forage. She's now on Progressive's grass RB and doing very well. I saw dapples for the first time this spring. :) Her coat's much softer and shinier, and she has *no* problems keeping on weight.

I am considering moving my horse to a barn that feeds Strategy, and I'm a little freaked out by the 25.8% NSC. Anyone have a horse get "high" on Strategy? I checked some of the previous threads on Strategy and only saw a few scattered reports of that...

No, I actually used it to successfully bring my 3 year old back to earth after a brief stint on an Omelene product.
