I've never shown in a pleasure show, and there's one next month. I've entered it.

What am I in for?

I've signed up for the Men's Single Driving: Cart or Wagon & Log Skidding.

I'm pretty sure the log skidding is pole bending with a log in tow?? What are the official rules?

What do I wear in my driving class? The ponies that I will be driving are Newfoundland Ponies, so I was going to include some Newfoundland tartan (http://www.mytartan.com/Tartans/Light/Canadian/Newfoundland%20Provincial%20tartan.jpg). Would I do so in a vest or a tie? I have both, so I can do either. My barn colours are gold and green, which we picked from the tartan. The front the vest is tartan and the back a solid green. What sort of tie would I wear? I don't need a jacket, do I? Would I wear a black trousers? And I need a hat too, right?

Can someone tell me the difference in strong trot, road trot, working trot, please?

Here's a video of my and my pony from back in may, I think I posted it here already?? it's only 15 seconds long, but can someone tell me which "trot" she's doing in the video?

Thanks!! :-)

Google is your friend.

Try searching for whatever breed club, association, etc. is putting on the show. They should have a list of classes, show rules, and explanations.

gah i typed a reply and it didn't show up!

i have the prize list here and it only says that the show committee may turn down unsuitably attired people if they feel they would not appeal to an audience.

Does it say anywhere anything about ADS rules? They require a hat, gloves and apron. Neat and clean are alway good. If it is hot, a jacket for ladies isn't required but you may want to take one to use if necessary.
The trots ask for are usually slow trot, working trot and stong trot. Road trot is a breed thing, I assume it is closest to strong trot from the shows I've seen.
The log thing I saw once at a mule and donkey show in Oregon. It was like a trail class, in hand, dragging a log.

Nfld_pony,

If you have the prize list for the show, there should be a page that says something like General Rules and Regulations. Under that section, it should say which organization sanctions the show.

Whatever organization sanctions the show would be the one where you would look for rules.

For example,

"This driving event is a sanctioned Driving competition member of Equine Canada, Suite 100 – 2685 Queensview Drive, Ottawa, ON K2B 8K2 and is governed by the rules of EC. Every class offered herein is covered by the rules and specifi-cations of the current rules of EC and will be held and judged in accordance with the EC Rule Book."

In that case, Google "Equine Canada" and find the EC Rule Book.
