I have a friend hoping to breed her mare next year and told her I would ask around for some opinions. Sorry I don't have a picture! She is by Concorde out of a mare by Pericles xx.
Mare did up to 1.45 in Europe and did the 1.30 and Level 7 stuff over here before being sold to my friend. She's a dark bay with a sock, Dutch, 16.1 and more on the refined side. Oh and she is HOT. She would like a stallion with a bit more bone and a good mind in hopes of producing a jumper type foal.
These are the stallions she has been considering.

Cabardino-my pick
Aarons Gold-think we have ruled him out though as she is trying to stay away from TBs
Magical-def ruled him out
Any thoughts?

Mine is very laid back and quiet, the easiest foal I have ever had, hopefully he'll stay this way once mature.
His mother is an average WB mare by Idocus, out of an Anglo TK mother (so sharing both the Voltaire and the XX in the pedigree as your friend's), and my colt has much more bone, size and depth than she does.

The Darco stallion crosses with Concordes seem to be a hit.
And, well you dont get a more proven jump than a Darco!!

Ironman has proven himself over and over at throwing good temperaments and cooling down hot mares. He will add bone, a tremendous amount of scope, a beautiful jump. He usually throws his head or part of it, his engine, longer necks and topline.

A few that come to mind: Cunningham, Baron Van Gogh, Torino, Amaretto D'Arco, Orlando.
Nimmerdor nicks well with Voltaire blood. So does Ramiro. I'd definitely be curious about the Capitol blood for her.

In another thread someone posted that Parco has more rideability than Darco does so I'm wondering if he would be a nice match. Or what about Lupicor?

You might consider Albarez. He's a new Holsteiner stallion, I have a filly by him. He's lovely, great mind, great scope and moving up fast in the jumper ring.
He's got some new videos too... on youtube. Just search his name on there..
He's got great lines and a super mind.

Rsing Star has a handsome Darco son valentino Z, that was ridden by an amateur, after jumping up to 1.45-1.5m in Europe-seems like he might offer both Darco blood and rideabilty.

How about Bandaras at Dreamscape Farm in Canada? He is incredibly well bred and a talented individual. Very nice young stallion.

Navarone puts on the best of characters/temperaments/trainability and super super jump! Puts on good bone on the offspring too much like him. Super pretty too with a nice head, long neck and good muscling. He is available fresh semen and you can stay with the KWPN registry.
Darco's are not known to be easiest for trainability. He will put on super jumping and big bone. We have frozen from his son Douglas here. Best with a mare with good character.

Too funny, it's like you literally read my mind!

I was also going to suggest RisingStarFarm's Darco son Valentino Z.
You should also take a look at Cielo B. Jumper with bred Darco, Jus D'Pomme and Ahorn lines.
He has nice big bone and passes on his Lovely, Lovely temperament.

Totally agree about the Darco trainability issue, but I know Amaretto D'Arco has a super temperament and is proving himself in the bigger GPs, both here and in Europe (the stallion travel with "his" teddy bear ). Douglas would be very interesting since he'd also add the Capitol blood.

I'd like to chime in about Valentino Z. By Darco, out of a Feo mare (Wendekreis), with French blood on the bottom. Super temperament and the easiest horse I've ever sat on! He did some big jumps in Europe - was an ammy's Level 7 horse in the US and will now be my return to the jumper ring.

Another very nice stallion is Magic Darco. He showed in Europe with Nick Skelton until his accident... He's now in the US showing in the working hunters but the boy has scope for the big fences.

Tap2Tango: Is your friend breeding for the jumper ring or the hunter ring? I know your original post says jumper, but all of her stallion selections are hunter-type stallions??

I noticed that too with all her choices!! ;) She would like a jumper foal though. So I did ask her the other day if she would consider other stallions than the ones in the original post; which she said yes. So far Valentino Z does seem like a hit. I will have her mention him to our trainer.

I am another vote for Valentino Z.... He has a couple lovely foals in California and I think will have a nice crop on the ground in 2010. Ronda ( his owner) is having a blast riding him and I believe she has given a few lucky AA riders a test drive!

In that case, tell her to take a serious look at Torino. He is the complete package with everything that your friend is looking for including high-level performance and production for the jumper ring and some some very nice breeding nicks with your mare. And she'll get hunter pretty (just in case that's what attracted her to those other stallions). Best of luck! :)
