Yes, I was there.

Horses sold from the highest of $63K Davinport and the lower end of $1,100. There were some really nice young horses that sold from between 15 and 30k and some real bargins on the younger stock.

I was at the sale with a young horse prospect, which I did not sell. There were numerous young horses that were not sold as they had reserves which were not met. So people who thought there were bargain prices, for some of these horses, it wasn't happening. The horses presented for sale were some really well bred stunning horses, but there just were not enough buyers. The auction house tried there best, but this was the first sale in this type of venue, hopefully improvements will be made and it will develop into a good place to showcase young prospects in the future.

Thanks for supporting the sale in this important first year. Prices on the young horses and broodmares are indicative of the wider horse market and the recession. The buyer pools for all types of horses are much smaller now than they were two years ago. Active buyers can be more selective with less competition for the same horses and they are much more conservative with their money. That being said, if you have what the buying public wants, you can get good money. Thanks again for helping make this first sale work!

There is a very good discussion going on under the Sport Horse Breeding Forum.
