saw he was retired from stud duty due to arthritis(difficulty with live cover) but still fertile.Might he be a lovely candidate for AI sporthorse breeding?Seems like he has OTTB babies doing well as sporthorses.

Friend of ours who breeds to race has a lovely daughter of his - gorgeous mover and a real nice sporthorse type. Her first two foals to hit the track haven't done as well as expected and I'm trying to get him to use her as a sporthorse broodmare. Think she'd make a great cross with either an Irish Draught for an ISH or a Connemara (me being biased? Not at all!)
Hope I can convince him.

I love Black Tie Affair, and it would be great if sport horse breeders could get access to him. Unfortunately, if he is having problems mounting for live cover due to arthritis, that would still present a problem collecting off a phantom/or live mare.
Breeding, whether live cover or collecting, is very hard on a stallion's hindquarters - hocks/glutes and stifles.
One option would be if they could train him to ground collect.
How old is Black Tie Affair now?

That site says he was pensioned due to low fertility, though.
