Can I give my just backed baby a break?

So my horse has been in work for the past three months for about four days a week and as it is I am going away for the next three weeks. My dilemmas is whether I should give him that time off to be a horse or keep him in a reduced training schedule with the trainer. Thoughts?

Yes. He will pick right up where you left off.

How old is he, and any plans to show this Fall? If you want to show this Fall, I'd keep him in light work. If not, give him the time off. IMO, if 3yo, prob off, 4yo, maybe, 5yo, prob keep in work.
