I think I may go and ride the Intro at Summertime Blues in Williamston July 25 & 26. I'm not sure if I'll do Saturday or Sunday yet. Anyone else going?
Any helpful hints for a dressage noob on the intro test?

I'll be there. Scribing. I staff the dressage shows in Williamston. This looks like a fairly small show so a great time to take a green horse. I'll be bringing my young mare out on Friday for the saddle fitter and to school. For those of you who have shown in Williamston and are used to two indoor rings I think that show management is actually going to do one inside ring and one outside.
Intro test. Breath. Stay soft. Keep your horse forward but not rushed. Plan your use of the corners well and practice turning onto the centerline. My goal the first time out was having my horse keep her attention on me and not letting her speed up her temp. She did fairly well. Pick one or two things that you'll be pleased with and the rest will be okay. Make sure you are fairly familiar with a dressage arena so you aren't searching for letters. If nervous, use a caller. Sometimes it gives you much needed confidence.
Please stop by before the show and introduce yourself or drop me a note and maybe we can meet Friday.

Williamston shows are always nice. I live in florida now but was a regular at the ncdcta shows including williamston.. For your first time out I agree with the above, just think about riding the test as correct and exact as you and your horse can on that day :) Good luck! Practice the centerline and halt. That is the judges first and last impression :)

I should be there helping my trainer out! I love Williamston, the atmosphere is always very welcoming. Would be showing this time, but I have zero cash!
Just make sure to breathe and have fun! :)
