I have a branded Oldenburg who is missing their papers. Do I contact ISR? Someone else? Thanks for answering my silly question!

Email Barbara at ISREG@aol.com and she will be able to assist you.:)

If it is ISR/Oldenburg NA it will have an "N" at the lower left corner of the "O", and an "A" at the lower right hand corner. If it does not have these letters, and just the "O" and crown, he may be an older import from Germany from the Verband and you would have to contact the GOV.

Hmmmm......no NA below the O. Just regular O with crown on top. I'm pretty sure this horse was bred in the US. Just thinking about it, I know quite a few American-bred Oldenburgs without NA under their brand. Any other possibilities?

As far as I know they can be bred in the US and still be registered with GOV.

They had two different brands - depending on the year. Early on it was the Oldenburg crown with the NA below it. Later it was split front and back of the crown.

I have horses with both. I vaguely remember inquiring why they were different - and think the reason was one year the brands got lost in transport and new ones were made.

You might need to wet the hair - or even clip it to see what it really looks like.

Good luck.

Do you know anything else about him? Age? Sire? Dam? Damsire? Breeder? Previous owner?

Even if you can figure out exactly WHO he is, the registry (either one) is not likely to give you duplicate papers without proof of legal chain of custody (i.e., signed sale contracts, etc.).
