How many of you are planning to attend the dressage at WEG?
I think the tickets are expensive, but not outrageous. It's the add ons that I concerned about,hotels,gas,etc....
So,anyone going?

I had hoped to, and even entertained the idea of bringing the 8 yo grand-daughter, but I think I'll be staying home and saving my $, unless I win the lottery!

Mr. asb_own_me and I are going. I bought a ticket package back in November 2007.

I so want to go! But I was a bit annoyed to see the ticket prices. I want to watch the dressage obviously, but I was hoping to catch some eventing and maybe some reining. Too bad they don't have day passes... Grr. I'll probably go, but I'm going to have to sleep in my car or something, haha.
Also, there's no WAY my grandma will agree to go with these ticket prices unless I buy them for her and lie about the price, another added expense. And my old roommate wanted to come too. We were going to have a nice horsey vacation, but I'm not sure anyone else is going to be willing to cough up that kind of cash. So sad too, because who knows when it will be back here again.
Also, does anyone know if any of the hotels are taking reservations yet? I know they all say on their websites they won't book until 360 days out or something like that. But I was hoping to book asap to get an idea of prices. I bet they're going to be a bit pricey too. Oh well. Horses are quite the expensive sport. Oy. Why couldn't I have been happy to have a cheap habit like running (then I'd be skinny and rich!)

I just moved to Lexington last week, so I'm definitely planning on taking advantage of the proximity. I'm trying to get two friends, one from Chicago and one from St. Louis, to come down for a few days so we can all have a reunion.
Of course, with what I've experienced of Lexington traffic so far, I think we're going to have to leave my house in the middle of the night just to get to the horse park before the events start.

I hope to go... are there tickets still available?
I'll be there the first week of the WEG for dressage and eventing as well as the opening ceremony. I'm traveling with the same group with whom I've traveled to all the other WEGs. But this time, I'm bringing my niece. Part of it was her college graduation gift.

I'm going because I live here, couldn't swing it if we had to add travel and hotel to the mix. We bought USEF's ticket package in 2007 for opening ceremony and dressage. We're also volunteering for the driving event and maybe a couple of others if we're selected.
LDeMaria, if they finish the Legacy Trail, you could ride your bike from Lexington to KHP. It will go through Spindletop and end near the main KHP entrance. I'm hoping they'll do something similar from the north end, but not sure that will happen now. It was mentioned as a possibility, but they are running out of time. Spectators will be bussed in, no cars will be allowed on the KHP property. And I hope they bus people in for free, on top of these ticket prices........

Ginger,
Thanks for the info. I just moved here last week so I've never been to the KHP for an event. I figured they would bus in spectators but I didn't realize they didn't allow parking there at all. I'm still learning my way back and forth to the grocery store and dog parks but I'll check out the trail. It would certainly be convenient.

I was planning to, but now with the ticket prices being so high I am staying home and will buy the DVD when it comes out.

I have the full week ticket package for dressage (seats already selected/reserved) and a hotel booked.
And now I find out that a very important show for my own horse is on that same week. Mr. asb_own_me still wants to go to WEG....me, not so much. So if anyone's interested, please PM me for details.

I couldn't do two weeks, so I have tickets for para dressage and show jumping which overlap, I can't wait!

Yes - going to all Dressage events. Did the pre-event purchase and just picked out tickets. Reserved the hotel a few months ago.

Did you find the seat selection good? I noticed a comment in the Eventing forum that the good seats were not available, and thought the same when I saw them for the Dressage series

Yep, we're going to opening ceremonies and all the dressage (there are 6 in our group). We signed up for advanced reservations and paid final installment for our seat selection last week. At least that way we got to pay in "installments"!
Made reservations at a B&B close to the venue when we made initial ticket reservations. I've been calling them periodically to make sure we are still confirmed.
I'm really hoping the economy will have turned around somewhat by then so I'll be able to afford to eat  and maybe even splurge on a few things at the vendor stalls:lol:

Those of you that already have hotels, how did you find? Are they expensive?
We are in southern California, but I will be working at a show at KHP in September.
