View Full Version : Hotel for Monmouth AA?

So I take students to Monmouth religiously every year, but have never stayed there as an away show since we don't live that far from the grounds. This year, however, we may stay up there for fun/convenience and I am not at all familiar with the hotels/area up there. I obviously see the hotels listed in the prize list, but thought the COTH members and their infinite wisdom might be able to help me out even more...

So which hotel(s) is/are the closest? I like to try to stay as close to the grounds as possible (heck, I'm still contemplating sticking my blow up mattress in the trailer...). Which are the best deals? Are any filled up yet? Are there any I should stay away from for fear of cockroach attack/Chinese water torture via leaking showers/death by mildew (can you tell we had a bad experience with a "budget" motel at Quentin?)?

Any other info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The Colts Neck Inn 9 ( i think that is the name of it) is about 10 min from the show grounds. I can't really think of much hotel wise in the area off the top of my head that would be any closer then that. It's really not a huge tourist area. There is a Holiday Inn off the Parkway exit that is probably 20 min from the grounds in Eatontown

There is the Holiday Inn in Tinton Falls (about 20 minutes away) and the Freehold Gardens in Freehold on Route 537 (It might be a Ramada now). I know the crew stayed at Red Roof Inn in Eatontown either last year or the year before...It became known as the "Red Light Inn". Did you check in the prizelist?

I did check the prize list, of course, but that only lists the hotel names and numbers. I was hoping for a bit more "insider information" as I know a lot of people on here go to that show!

Colts Neck InnIntersection of 34 & 537 - About 5-10 minutes away - usually a 2 nt minimum on weekends - not bad, not fancy - water smells like iron
Village Inn Colts Neck - 5-10 minutes away - intersection of 34 & 18 - not bad, not fancy
Freehold Gardens - 5 minutes away

In Eatontown - maybe 10 minutes there is a Holiday inn, Marriot, and like 3 others. Just around the intersection of 18 & Garden state parkway exit 105. Check hotels.com or a site like that and look at the map, these are all what you would expect from their chains.
