I readily admit I don't know much about Jumpers, but I would like to learn how jumper classes are pinned. I thought it was based on a combination of clean rounds and staying under the time designated for a course.

I was just looking at the results from a recent rated show near me, and noticed that in some of the lower height jumper classes (.75m, .85m), there were up to 6 riders listed as finishing in first place:

Class: 214 - .85m Jumpers (2'9") Entries: 8
Place Entry
1 146
1 135
1 208
1 328
1 304
1 223

I'm guessing the results I posted mean 6 of 8 riders went clean and within the time so they all tied for first and there is no jump off in lower jumpers?

I feel dumb asking this question, so please educate me, thanks! :p

They were probably "blue ribbon rounds" where if you go clear in the time allowed you "win."

Sometimes in the lower levels they have blue ribbon rounds, where if you go clean you get a blue ribbon :D

In Canada they are red ribbon rounds. :D Generally they are basic schooling rounds with a "reward" for clear rounds....there are no other placings and no money.

I appreciate all of your responses. Your explanations were quite helpful and now I know it wasn't a mistake that so many riders got first place! :)
