I was wondering if anyone had experience with these, and how their quality, durability, and fit compare to TS and Ariat.

I will never go bk to T.S after wearing the RJ's...Ariats I like, if onlÝ they didn't make my butt look big.... I have converted over to RJ's....

Convert here, too.

I love them. They are light, comfy, easy to clean, and the fit looks great.

I never had any ariat breeches because the ones I tried on I either didn't like the material or they fit sort of funny. I want ten more pairs :)

I haven't tried the lower-priced ones, yet, I just got a pair of the nice show ones for a killer deal, and they may be my favorite breeches of all time :)

While I'm a TS fan, I really like the RJ breeches too. They fit very similar and the quality is top notch. The best part is the price!!!

And if you like a low-rise, they are truly low-rise.

The fit is almost exactly the same as the TS low rise side zip breeches. The sizes run a full size smaller - I am a 28 in TS and a 30 in RJ Classics.

I have also noticed the extreme low rise. They get lower every time I wash them to to point where now, a shirt will not stay tucked in, even with a belt.

are the "nice show ones" the RJ Sterling Low Rise breeches, or are those the cheaper ones? I have only seen the Sterling breeches in the Dover catalogue. I want some!

I think caffinated and I both have the Diamond collection ones, which I rarely see for sale anywhere. Its a shame, because they are by far my favorite breeches  The ones I have are mid-rise, which hit perfectly on me to tuck in a shirt, but not be halfway up my ribs.

They hold up well, they wash well, and they look great. I haven't tried the cheaper Sterling line, but I might just have to for a pair of their Cocoa colored ones.

I love the RJ's!! Low rise style fits at the right place on hips without being too low, light weight, show quality material. They look expensive, are durable and hold up great to washing.

I wear a 22 in Ariat, a 24 or 26 in RJ, and a 24 in TS, if that helps?

Yep, those are the ones. The mid-rise on me is a bit too high, and I don't have a belt small enough to keep them there, so if I get another pair they'll be the lower rise ones.

Haven't tried anything from the other lines yet. :)

I love the RJ classics!!! The are sooo much more comfortable then the Tailored Sportsmans. They are lighter weight and 10x easier to clean. I got my trainer a pair, and she now shows in them too. I also let one of my friends barrow a pair at a show, and she said she will never wear TS again.

Just a quick question--does Dover sell these? Maybe I missed them in the catalogue? I'd love to try a pair to compare with my TS. Thanks!

I love these! I wear the same in RJs as I do TS (both are 4 way but the RJs are low rise, my TS are not). Anyway, I have 3 pairs I got from Equus Now at Rolex for $65!! each. I use two for schooling and reserved one for show. I've gotten a ton of compliments on them =)

Also, they say dry clean or wash on gentle but i just toss mine in the wash with my regular clothes. My BF even accidently stuck them in the drier and they came out fine. I can't compare how much of a low rise they are compared to others because these are the only LR breeches I've ever had. I don't think they are that bad but maybe I have a shorter torso?

PS if anyone knows where to get them for a good price can you post here? I doubt Equus now still offers them for $65!

Oh, mine always go in the washer and dryer. No problems at all with shrinkage or the knee patches doing anything funky!

TOTD had a great deal on them last year and I stocked up, and I keep waiting on them to have another. Sadly, it hasn't happened so far this year, but I keep waiting.

Yep, I have the same experience with mine. You have to buy a full size bigger than you do in the TS.

i love the fit of TS and i hated the fit of RJ and also ariats....RJ was waaay too big on my waist and the low rise seemed even lower than TS....ariats are too tight on my legs and too loose on my waist also

I seem to be the odd one out, but I wear the same size in TS Royal Hunters, Ariat All/Pro Circuit, and the RJ Classics show breeches?!

Maybe it matters if where on the size spectrum you fall? Someone posted a link one to the Ariat size charts and if you were small, they ran big-- if you were average they ran true to size, if you were larger they ran small. IIRC it was something like the size 26R had a waist that measured 27 inches, the 30R had a waist that measured 30 inches, the 36 had a waist that measured 35 inches... so whether they "ran big" or "ran small" depended on what size you were. Perhaps other brands are the same.

I really like my RJ breeches but I have to say, I am slightly bummed. I broke out a new pair this weekend and on the very first day the stitching on the knee patch started coming undone. I clearly got one bad pair, my others are fine. Bummer though.

And today I got a pair of the TS schoolers, and although they seem to run a *bit* smaller than the Ariat, I still took the exact same size.

I like the RJ breeches, they are great quality and they have the little grippies to keep your shirt tucked in. But they are wayyyy too low for a low-rise and run a little small, and I can't find a good cheap (or on sale) pair of a mid or regular rise out there. They do wash up well and look great, but too low for my booty! haha

i just got 2 pairs of RJ classics at 40% off at a tack close out sale. i wore them for my clinic lessons and they were soooo comfortable! it was roasting hot and i felt really comfy. they are a bit low rise, but not too bad. they are not cotton so i think they will last a long time. i find the cotton breeches fall apart quicker.
