I'm showing at my first Ledges show (I'm from Zone 3...so I don't know much about showing in the mid-west). Where should I stay? I am flying into Milwaukee because my Mid-West trainer's barn I assume is near there, and I will be driving into the show. Would it be better for me to fly into Chicago? Any other pointers?

Thanks!

I haven't shown at Ledges in a while, but I always enjoyed staying at the Beloit Inn in Beloit, Wisconsin. It's only about 10 minutes from Ledges and is a nice hotel. If you call, tell them you want the horse show rate...they usually offer a small discount.

Here's a link to their website:

Not sure which airport is closer - Milwaukee or Chicago. It's about a 90 minute drive from O'Hare.

Are you showing this weekend? Good luck!

Right now I am flying into Milwaukee.....I heard that's a bit easier!

Showing I believe in 1 class on Saturday and 1 on Sunday, then flying home. I'm excited!

Technically, Milwaukee is probably closer, but from O'Hare you just get on I-90 and go west. Traffic can be a real PITA tho, so I would probably have picked Milwaukee as well. Beloit Inn is very nice. Great restaurant in the lobby. There are also plenty of cheap motels in the area.

Beloit is sold out. Bummer. Staying at Comfort Inn. Tell me it's not a bad one!

I assume you mean the Comfort Inn in Beloit (on Milwaukee Ave I am recalling?)? There is a row of hotels there as well as several food options & a Wal-Mart. I personally am a fan of the Culver's. :D I stay at what used to be the Econo Lodge & is now a PS Lodge something before they turn it into a Rodeway Inn--their horse show rate is $56 total w/ tax. Not fancy, but I am only there to shower & sleep. Comfort Inn is good--has a breakfast & a indoor pool I think?

Your other option for flight could have been the Rockford Airport as you could hop right on I-90, but I don't know if many airlines fly there. I personally haven't been to that aiport, but have been told it's easy to access. Flying into O'Hare isn't the worst thing, but you would need to get on I-90 & it may be a 90 minute drive (there is construction closer by Ledges before you go into WI) depending on traffic.

I'll be at Ledges Sat/Sun as well for the low adult jumpers (I have a big plain bay gelding). Welcome & good luck! :)
