My daughter has totally outgrown her tall boots! Any suggestions on what brand might fit her? She has a narrow ankle, very slim calf but her leg from foot to knee is very long. I don't want to spend a fortune since she is still growing! We like a zipper.
We had a very hard time finding the pair she just outgrew and they are Ariats but I can't remember what style they are.
TIA

It's hard to say what would fit her without knowing any of her measurements. Pretty much all tall boots have size guides online and you can see where hers match up.
I have trouble finding boots that are short but still slim and I find the Bevals to fit extremely well, however they are at $850 or thereabouts I think these days. I love ariat paddock boots but have never been satisfied with the tall boots I tried as far as fitting slim (but I am very short as well so different situation).

I find the old-style Elites are *very* tall, and come in teeny tiny calf sizes. I'd keep an eye out on EBay and the like.

I don't know what your price range is but Sergio Grasso are a great option. They are expensive. Mine were $650 and I know they go up from there depending on the type you want. They are very close to being custom. There are all kinds of measurement options. I have a hard time because I have a small foot and a tiny ankle but long narrow calves as I am tall so Ariat and Elite have never fit me.

Have you considered the Der Dau Contour Zip Field Boot? They are a more affordable field boot and look custom. You can even have a custom height. Lara (LovesHorses) works for Der Dau and could probably answer any questions about them. The link is http://www.smartpakequine.com/ProductClass.aspx?productclassid=6756.

ponymom64 - We ended up with the Ariat Crowne Pros for my DD a couple of months ago in a tall/slim. Since my DD will out grow these boots before she wears them out I did not want to spend a fortune either.
Other Ariat styles did not have a high enough cut for her long calf. I found a pair of Crowne Pros for her second hand (barely used), but they still had to be taken in both in the ankle and calf. These do not have zippers and in the end we decided not to have zippers put in because the fit is so nice on her. I believe I paid about $350 for the boots and the alterations.

yeah, I'm not really into spending more than at most $ 500, she is still growing after all. Her calf is long for someone as tiny as she is 5'1" but it is not long for a regular sized person. The problem we have is finding a boot that is slim enough in the calf but probably a regular tall would be long enough.

I really liked the Beval Puissance boots for my string bean girls. I actually was able to find a couple pairs of used Bevals while they were still growing. Seems like I bought the boots for about $250. I see them on eBay sometimes. Also, if you come across used ones with warn stretch panels, don't discount them. Beval is excellent about replacing those!
My skinny ankle/calf/super long legged kid had real problems with Ariat Crownes - I think it had to do with her arch, but those boots actually made her cry when she had to take them off.

We also ended up with fairly expensive Ariat's for growing teenagers. At first, I bought cheap tall boots, but then realized they kept falling off the horses while wearing them. That was clearly false economy! The good thing is that even though they kept growing, it has been 8 years and the Ariats still fit. My daughters only compete a few times a year, so I am very happy that the boots have lasted. Of course, we have probably been through 15 pairs of paddock boots and casual winter riding boots in those 8 years.

Our local tack shop sells a lot of the slim calf Elite boots to the young girls with skinny legs and they seem to fit beautifully. Its a great boot I have them myself. And the regular height (I'm 5'4") is almost too high for me.

Thanks all for the suggestions - keep'em coming! I just measured her - the calf is 12.5" and the boot height needs to be about 17" - I think she is a 6.5 or 7 in the foot. I actually just discovered what style her current boots are - they are the Crowne pros, sz 6.5, medium slim, so Ariat size 7's will be too short since they have the same height measurement.
I checked on eBay today but didn't find anything. Apparently, the boots she has been wearing have a new feature as of today - air conditioning - LOL!

The Treadstone field boots have a slim width of 13" and a height of 18". They are very good quality for the price. A friend of mine has them and I'll ask her about how much hers have dropped; personally I always factor in at least an inch of drop.

Wouldn't the Ariat Crowne Pro's in the size 7 tall/slim work if the 7 medium slims are too short?
