Mr. PoPo's horse toes in and we've had a heck of a time keeping shoes on him. He breaks over on the lateral side of his toe and he twists his foot. We did a good job with him for a while but just this last shoeing he pulled both front shoes and now there's not enough wall to nail a shoe onto again so he's barefoot up front.

Due to the way he's conformed and wears his feet, I wonder which boots (if any) would work for him while he grows hoof out?

Anyone have any suggestions for shoeing the toed-in horse? I've wondered about glue-ons but if he ripped one of those off I imagine the damage would be quite bad.

I've asked the farrier about side clips but he thinks that if he ripped off a shoe with clips that would also be worse than just ripping off a regular shoe.

Any success stories or ideas would be much appreciated!

I would love to see a photo of his heels.....does he get trimmed balanced side to side when he gets done? Just want to ensure the toeing in isn't caused by the trim .

His toeing in is from his conformation, not from his trim - you can see it in his legs, not just his feet.

I'd be wondering if your farrier is perhaps doing something wrong.. my mare is toed in, and I have NEVER had an issue with her pulling shoes. She also lives outside 24/7 with mud and hills and all that shoe-pulling risky stuff.

His toeing in is from his conformation, not from his trim - you can see it in his legs, not just his feet.Sure that's quite possible, but from experience, I also know those are usually the hooves that are not trimmed correctly and tend to have a medio-lateral imbalance because of it , as in not balanced correctly side to side.

Since it is a consideration, I would at least check into it :)
