I am curious if anyone knows anything about Clayton Jackson, or has trained with him before. He is the new hunter/jumper trainer at my barn and I am interested in maybe taking lessons but I would like to know more about him.

I know he moved here to California from Oregon, and he was suspended from USEF in Oregon.

Does anyone know anymore about him?

It would really help me and I would greatly appreciate it.

There is an eventing barn here in Canby called Oz Inc own by Jeff and Shelly Campf. I have heard nothing but great things.


There is also a jumper barn on Central Point Road in Oregon City that is also quite successful I've heard.

Oz Inc is not an eventing barn by ANY means. Haha. They are definitely Hunter/Jumper and I have never worked with them but their horses and riders are very successful and well turned out.

I am confused though as to what this thread is about, I don't know anything about Clay Jackson, I have never heard of him and I have been in Oregon for awhile now.

Feel free to PM about any area trainers though...

Just to put it out there, I took some lessons from Clay after checking him out, I think I only got one PM that claimed "I should run"....well I had numerous replies that all said I should check it out. I decided to and I am just confirming what most told me, He is a horseman first of all and he is a good trainer, he doesn't do a big lesson thing by choice, though I have to say the lessons I got were very concise and eye opening as an amatuer. His barn was immaculate and his horses all very happy. He does seem to be abit reserved at first but once you get to know him he is pretty open about anything. One thing is he did not talk down to me, I felt comfortable and I found his riding style refreshingly light. My horse loved him:)
Good luck, and if you take lessons with him don't take your time for granted....I wish he had not chose to move away after his divorce, I would love to stay with his barn but I can't leave the area. JC

I have been riding for over 20 years (I took a few years off after college and having a baby) and I competed on the A circuit quite a bit when I was younger.

I started riding again 9 months ago and I have had the privilege to be riding with Clay Jackson. I know that he was teaching in Oregon and Sacramento, but he recently moved to Sonoma Mountain Equestrian Center in Petaluma, CA. I have ridden with some great trainers, but what he has taught me in the past few months is remarkable. He is very thorough, and really explains why things are working or not. He truly has a love for the animal, and really enjoys what he is doing. I love coming out to the barn, and I am learning so much. If you have the opportunity to take lessons with or board your horse at Clay's barn I would definitely do it.
