Hi all, I know some of you on this board know Nyls du terroir. I'd love to hear anything you have to say on him. I'm French, and own his half sister (same dam, different stallion), she's an outstanding jumper. Unfortunately, she broke her 3rd phalanx in 2006, I tried to start showing her after an 18months recovery, but unfortunately I've had to retire her 2 weeks ago, because her foot still hurts. I'm breeding her to Diamant de Semilly (Nyls's sire) this year, she'll be in heat maybe this week. I've seen a couple of videos of Nyls, and visited his owner's website. They make a great pair!
Thanks

could you possibly post a link to the stallion's website? I'd love to have a look, as I'm not familiar with many (or any, really...) french horses :)

here's a link to Diamant's page (http://www.semilly.com/gb/diamant-gb.html) on his breeder/owner's website
plus another page, in French but with more pics of his offspring http://studforlife.com/Diamant.htm

he competed in the world championship, won with his team + tons of other results, and is an outstanding sire.

I was working with his owner when they were starting out together. He has a wonderful, puppy-dog disposition as well as being extremely athletic. Kate got him as a three-year-old and has brought him along from the beginning and they certainly make a great team.

I worked with him before he was imported as a 2-3 yr. old and was the first person on his back. Great character, lovable guy. Could get skittish at times and tended to "charge" ahead full force when nervous. We free jumped him quite big and he always found the jumping a bit too easy. Easy to the point where he was always jumping out of his paddock to go graze somewhere else. I worked with quite a few other Diamont de Semilly babies and all were talented jumpers. I'm so proud of how far my "little" Nyls has gone!

:D he seems like a great horse! I adore my mare, she's a little wary of people she doesn't know (i.e everyone but me actually), and other horses, but she's the horse of a lifetime. Too bad she had her accident.
And because I'm so proud of her, here's a pic of us, at the 6yo french championships

I'm pretty excited to see the result with Diamant, he has sired quite a few outstanding horses

Isn't he the horse who was just named to the High Performance Developing Riders squad with his owner, Kate something who rides with Emily Beshear? For our French friend, that's the group from which our national federation hopes to be able to select from for International/World Class teams.

Or am I thinking about another French horse with a very similar name?

If you look under nyls de terroir + jumping or n de t + three day and you will get alot of hits. Here is a pix: http://www.chronofhorse.com/Issues/060807/028-030.pdf

Nyls is ridden by Kate Samuels and will be representing Area II on our 2* team this year at NAJYRC in a couple of weeks. She was named to the developmental riders after her 2nd place at Jersey Fresh in the CCI**.

I know them both as I train with Emily too. He's a lovely boy. She's a remarkable young lady who works harder than I've ever seen a young person work. She's the real deal folks! If you think the up and comers are not in tuned with foxhunting and old style, think again. She's not arena bound!

Here's a video she did explaining eventing.

I'm sure she would answer any of your questions. She loves that horse.
And that's awesome caevent!

I rode Nyls when he was first imported right before Kate bought him. He was a super sweet goofy guy and a perfect match for Kate. I am glad to see that they are doing so well together!

Wow, thanks guys I can't believe that my horse has such a fan base! I'm so glad you found me Aude, it's really great to hear from people who have Nyls' relatives. I think he really is the horse of a lifetime, and he has certainly proven it this year.

So far, he won his first CCI* in 2007 as a five year old, and then this year was 2nd at his first CCI** at Jersey Fresh, before turning 8, and just last weekend we went to represent Area II in the North American Young Rider's Championships in Kentucky, and we got individual bronze medal and team silver. Nyls was the only one to finish on his dressage score! Next week, we have a clinic with Mark Phillips in the developing rider's camp. I'm very excited!

I was also interviewed on the Eventing Radio Show, and I explained a bit about how I got Nyls as a 3 year old and we have come up the levels together.
