hi all, i know we have a lot of great feet people on here and i'm wondering if someone can personally recommend a good barefoot trimmer in the NEPA/NW NJ area? i'm in easton, pa 18040, right over the bridge from NJ.

my 11yo paint/hann has thrown 6 shoes in 8 months and it's just getting frustrating, esp bc i have him leased out and the poor girl can't ride every other freakin week while i wait for the farrier to get out. the horse is a special case-he has navicular and is in bars/pads. i've read lots of great stuff about barefoot trimming for nav. horses and have always wanted to try it, and today was just the impetus to start looking into it. the only prob is, i've always heard that they can need months to adjust to being bare and i cannot have this horse off for months (as i said, he is leased).

so, any suggestions on where to even begin? i don't even know where to turn; i know it should be someone who specializes in barefoot trimming, but i'm afraid to end up with someone extreme who will whack off his feet and cripple him or something...he has VERY sensitive feet...(paint feet on a hanno body O_o) and the slight angle change from having snow pads put on caused laminitis this winter, if that tells you anything. UGH. thanks in advance!

If your horse is so sensitive that a change to snow pads caused laminitis I would first have a discussion with your vet and your farrier to see if your horse is a candidate to go barefoot.
