I made a post several months ago, but can't seem to find it..
I need to get a leather (preferably black) pony harness for my 11.3 hand stallion. He is a Welsh, and much more slight of build than most Welsh ponies.
I've got an easy entry cart, made by Lignite Carriage Co. I had it made several years ago for a shetland I had, and I believe it should fit my Welsh. I just cannot seem to find the harness...
I've been googling used harnesses, and haven't found anything suitable. Needs to be in decent enough condition to show it, and most importantly, be safe. Or if anybody knows of an affordable new harness, that would be even better.
Also, would love any helpful tips for getting started.. I'm located near Sacramento, CA and was thinking of getting in touch with the local driving club (I seem to remember hearing of one a while back?). Thanks :)

Chimacum Tack has lovely harness. They have a mini harness for $595.00. They make it in pony size also. I know your stallion is 11.3hh, my harness from them on it's smallest setting fits my 12.1 mare.

I'm researching driving as we just got a Shetland, have her ground driving, and she is a saint. Starting to look for harness and cart. Doing my SEARCH here first.
Can I ask a question? I looked at Chimacum, as it has a great rep. When you say "MY HARNESS FROM THEM FITS MY 12.1 hd MARE ON THE SMALLEST SETTING" - which size are you talking about? Are you saying the Chimacum PONY SIZE is really too big for small ponies?
We have a 41" Shetland....she is larger than typical "Mini Size", but definitely on the small end for Pony size. So your Pony Sized harness from Chimacum would never fit her, right? It'd be too big?
Would you suggest the Mini Size?
Just trying to get idea on sizing. I know to take her measurements when it comes down to it...but most ads are either "Mini, Pony, Cob, Horse" sized stuff (looking at carts, harnesses, bridles, etc)
Thanks!

Well, when I purchased the harness, I didn't ask for any specific size, I just gave her all the measurements that I needed, and this is what I got. The one harness fits all of my ponies. I've only recently seen other 12.2 ponies (everyone I know has horses) and mine seem to be a little more slight.
Give Janie your measurements, and you'll get exactly what you want. If not, send it back, and she'll make sure it's perfect for you :D:D:D

Chimacum is very, very helpful.
One of my harnesses was made to fit by Chimacum. It is great. I got the biothane. My other harnesses are show harnesses with bling, but the Chimacum betathane is so nice, I believe you could use it for shows.
So easy to care for. Just wipe it off. Very easy care.\
