All right, no one else has started it, so I will. Who's going? When are you getting there? Who has weather forecasts? Times are up, everyone happy with their times?

I will be there, hopefully on Wednesday night. I have my usual ride times so oh, well. Actually, I am only going because flutie1 promised me a round of beers even if she was busy in the porta-john. ;)

I didn't want to be the first to reply to my own thread, so thanks Reed. ;)

I'll be there Wednesday in the early afternoon (hopefully!). My times are pretty good, early enough to not ride in the afternoon heat, but late enough that I won't be wincing while setting my alarm. And luckily the one star goes first for everything, so I will be able to watch the CIC3*, A, and CIC2* dressage and cross country. :-)

Can't wait to eat some crepes, either. And also get out of the 110 degree Texas heat....:o

Well, I was going (Kristen Gallo and Sonny Side Up in JTR), but my poor horse has something going on with his left hind leg and lower back, very similar to when he tangled himself in his blanket taking a nap last fall and pulled a muscle. This time he got sprayed by a skunk in the pasture last week so maybe he hurt himself getting away? The vet is coming back out Monday to see if a weekend with a little bute changes things. I haven't been able to get much riding done in the past two weeks though combined with being out of town and now this; we'll see. I have been lucky, this will be the first time I ever had to (probably at this point) scratch once entered in an event.

I sent mine in the day it went out! (Mainly because my summer class doesn't start until after Maui Jim, so I've been bored silly after riding in the morning.)

But I'm so glad you do this, it makes the announcing so much more personable. :-) Not that Flight Check doesn't already do a fabulous job!

I think I'm still going. Not competing, but hopefully there to watch my trainer do her horse's first Advanced! :)

I'll be there as will Mrs KS but we're not competing either. I'll be backing up Flight Check and you'll see Sue when you come down center line (think she's scribing for Ana both Dressage days). We get in on Wednesday, too, and we're driving up as well so we may see you on the road Reed.

Where do you think she GOT that beer, Reed?

Oreo and I are going, and I have to tell you that I am quite anxious. I didn't expect to be...but, I am.

We are riding in the Novice division. It will be only our fourth novice event.

I will drive down on Wednesday. Dressage Thursday afternoon...which is great because I stress so much about braiding. I am NOT good and it seems to take me forever to get it done. And we have XC early Friday morning...which is wonderful because then I catch watch everyone else!

If anyone is going solo and might need a hand, please pm me. I always attend shows alone and I know how difficult it can be when you have no-one to help you out.

See you there!

Well, flutie is quite the hostess, so I would not worry about the quality of the beer! Cannot be there, other obligations, but good luck and lots of fun to all.

EVERYONE COMING TO MAUI JIM PLEASE TAKE NOTE. THE MOSQUITOS ON THE XC COURSE ARE AS BIG AS VULTURES BECAUSE OF ALL THE RAIN WE'VE HAD.
BRING BUG SPRAY AND WEAR LONG PANTS AND LONG SLEEVES.

Will pack bug spray! Thank for the heads up. In IA today I was chased around by a vicious swarm of deer flies.:(

In theory I will be there today.

Sometime.

Stupid plane 3.5 hrs late - of course they didn't notify me until I was AT the airport...

Yippee! My boyfriend, Slate River, is doing his first Advanced.

Danielle and I will be there mid day on Thurs.
Hopefully next year I'll be back in action and have two ponies to bring. : )

am I reading the schedule wrong or do we only have to do one jog for the CIC's?
Is there no jog Sunday morn before show jumping????

purplnurpl
Jul. 7, 2009, 09:44 AM
Nope. that is the new way of the CIC.

Best idea the FEI ever had.

No Sunday jog?? Dang, what am I going to do with myself, then, if I go?

purplnurpl
Jul. 7, 2009, 10:20 AM
I know. I LOVE the formality of the Sunday jog. It really shows off the horse's beauty. and soundness (or {{gasp}} lack of soundess)!!

And our sport creeps closer and closer to hunters with their faux jog, but hey even that is after the horses have jumped.

I'll be there Thursday mid-day and will be volunteering as safety officer. Looking forward to it. Was trying to decide about shorts or not, so thanks for the heads up on the bugs!

Argh, I really can't decide whether to go or not. My trainer is taking her horse Advanced for the first time (his first time, not hers) and I know so many people that are going to be there--but OTOH she doesn't really need help and it's a weekend I have FREE otherwise, which is SO rare.

Anyone need a hotel room for Saturday night only? I have a non-refundable reservation at the Super 8 in St. Charles.

Are they going to use the live scoring on line so we can follow Maui Jim along?

I'll be there... but not riding  I have two friends riding that I don't get to see often so I figured that I may as well head up there and hangout with them for the weekend!
