What color pony would an "oakbark" saddle look best on???

Call me traditional but I've only ever had havanna brown, or um. . .havanna brown, lol!!! Might have the opportunity to purchase an "oakbark" colored saddle for my daugher's grey (white w/ flea bites) pony. . . would it be a good match color wise??

I think you could get away with any color on a grey pony, oakbark should look fine and you could always darken it after you get it.

Thanks BAC!

When you say darken it, are there certain saddle soaps that come with a stain? Any that you would reccomend? Thanks!

I would first remove any possible buildup or residue from previous cleaning products from the saddle by cleaning with Kirk's Castile soap or an ammonia/water mixture to make sure the oil can be absorbed by the leather. I personally use Walsh's Blue Ribbon oil but also like Tanner's Darkening Oil and have heard great reviews about Hydrophane Darkening Oil. I think any of these products would work, depending on which is easiest to find.

If you want to darken it more gradually you can use any oil, regular Tanner's, neatsfoot compound, even olive oil.
