Has anyone on here ever dealt with this? I've found a forum for fellow suffers of them, but it appears that only one has a child involved in riding. One opinion is good, but i'd like to find more :)

Would like to find other's personally involved in riding. What i'm trying to find out is how to go about fixing this & being able to ride in the future. I'm absolutely terrified of surgery & the aftercare, but the more I read, the more I think I should get surgery sooner rather then waiting till later (am currently dealing with a second occurrence.)

I'm starting to think abscesses are way cooler when they're on my horse rather in on me :dead:

And PMs are fine :)

Noithing to add, but hoping everything works out well. My brother had the cyst once and a friend of mine did also. My brother doesn't ride, although he used to when he was a teen. My friend did own a horse and ride.

I don't think either of them had surgery, only had the cyst drained.

Jingles for you as those cysts are painful.

Eurgh, miserable things, I have it... Or at least I'm pretty sure that's what it is. Haven't noticed it affect me during riding, it sits higher up than that so I'd really have to be rolling my butt under to affect it. Doesn't hurt most of the time, only if I sit leaning back too much in a chair (like I used to do while online). Had it flare up horribly a few months ago and was THE most miserable thing that's ever happened to me. Had it drained at the doctor's office and got antibiotics and been fine again since. Will get a twinge every now and then if I've been doing something repetitive that I shouldn't have, like sitting wrong on hard stools. So, it's put-up-with-able. Sorry to hear you're afflicted :(

I have it. Yuck is right, the worst pain ever. I have had 2 flair ups- but it has been almost 8 years since the last one. If you keep getting flair ups its probably worth getting the surgery- but you can live with it.
